Is it 2016-17 or 2017-18...

With the latest release of ITG Used I'm at a loss as to how this set should properly be titled. Beckett and GTS (perhaps others) have decided to title it 2017-18, but just about every other place I look I see it titled as 2016-17. This is not uncommon with Leaf products as they decide to title them with a single year... so as far as they are concerned it's 2017 ITG Used.

This isn't the only year that is confusing or the only product... for the love of all that's holy... what is right? This may not be an issue for everyone but it is for me. I save my Fleury collection in different folders based on the production year. So... in my opinion it's 2016-17 ITG Used.

I would say 2016-17 myself. It is being released at a time when the majority of other hockey releases are still 2016-17. I believe only MVP is 2017-18 so far.

I agree. We are still in the 2016-17 window for products so that's where I'd place it.

I use The Trading Card Database and they list this one as well as a few other Leaf sets as stand alone years, 2017, 2016, 2015. They keep them separate from the normal 16-17 and 17-18 release year designations.

Bugs me too with OCD - pick one of the other!

Because they already have a 2016-17 ITG Used in their databases. What did you do for last year's release? As Yogi Berra once said "It's deja vu all over again".

Dave.

Here for the recent ITGU, I would say it's 2016-2017 as it was in a run with other products before it, so it would fit within the 16-17 portion still. And don't worry, things like that have been wondered by me also. Not alone my friend!

I've also wondered this with President's Choice cards and where to place them in my PC. When you really break things down since they never had any product previously, and first starting to release cards (Leafs Centennial was the first boxed product, then these amazing singles started after that) in 2017 (Jan. 20th, 2017, I believe), then it would have to be 17-18 from here on out in my mind, no? Because although other products from other manufactures (Leaf/UD) were still in their own 16-17 product calendar "window" PCTC was not, because that was their first ever product release ever, so would that mean their "window" starts in 2017, making this the first of what now is many 17-18 sets of cards? I currently list all my PCTC in 2017-18.

Ah well, not sure If anyone else considered that one with President's Choice, but just another example. Anyone else can chime in, as I'm all ears on this one :)

Curious Question Alert :) : Where are you placing your M-A Fleury President's Choice cards Kendall? Under 2017-2018? Would love to hear your opinion on that man.

I'm with the rest. In my opinion, it fits with 2016-17 sets, since the 17-18 season hasn't even started yet. I know that some companies still designate their sets early, but this for sure wouldn't count towards this upcoming season's crop of sets. Unless the company has specifically designated it as their 2017-18 set (like MVP mentioned above), it should fall within the previous year.
