Is something funny going on here?

I have an auction up right now, I currently have one bidder on it. I recently picked up a second bidder who outbid the first bidder.

The new bidder had a rating of 0, a day later I get an email saying that he has withdrawn his bid.

What do you think is up here?



I'm pretty sure I can't post my own auction on here.

I've been on ebay for over 10 years and I don't know how to retract a bid! Sounds weird to me but then again, would you even accept a zero bidder?

I know everyone has to start at 0 on Ebay, but they can start with someone else. No 0 feedback bidders may bid on my auctions.

Everyone one starts somewhere dont they, I was a o when I first started out as well. If a 0 is bidding on my auction then I just watch it a bit more closely and maybe spend the extra few bucks to insure it depending on the card, but no way would I can his bid, unless the bidder did something odd or suspicious likeup above, but if a its a decent bid, and they are good the whole way of the auction then thats fine

I like the idea of not letting anyone with less than a certain amount of feedback bid.

I use to put that in my auctions but I also stated that anyone under 10 feedback would require an email prior to bidding, you get alot out of someone with a simple email. You can tell if they are serious or not.

The new guy is probably "shopping around" on ebay and doesn't quite understand the concept of an auction bid.

One possibility is that he puts a bid on yours and then found one that is cheaper, so he withdraws his bid with you.

Easy way to tell is to look at his feedback a month later and see what he's won. If it's the same card as yours, then you'll know.

As mentioned earlier, I also don't know how to retract a bid on ebay.

I now have 337 positive feedbacks on eBay, but I retract my first bid ever.

How it happend? In french, we use this symbol , between dollars and cents. So 1,99 $ is the french way to write 1.99 $ as you guys do in english.

The problem with ebay is, when you enter 1,99 $, your bid will be 199 $ because he don't recognize the , symbol.

Maybe the problem have been fixed since then, but back then, I had the scare of my life when I realized I just bid 199 $ for a 5 $ BV card.

I contact eBay, retract my bid, bid again, with the correct symbol and won the card.

Cute story just to show you that the bid retractor you are refering to is probably not pure evil

just an update, the bidder has now come back and placed another bid. I'll let this 0 guy keep his bid. I don't think he'll end the high bidder anyways.
