Went on Beckett online to check the price of my 2013-14 Select Youth Explosion Auto SP of Leland Irving.

Boy was I surprised to see the BV of it !! 4BV !!!

Is that some stupid joke by Beckett ??

Look at the prices of the set, it's ridiculous! The Ryan Nugent-Hopkins SP is BV8 ?!?

Maybe they forgot the 0 ? Like Irving = 40BV, Nuge = 80BV ?

I just can say, WOW !

Well sometimes Beckett tend to pull numbers out of a hat to determine prices. Well, at this point it's the only thing that would make sense to me. Their Parkhurst Champions price listings is comical. Having Igor Larionov's auto jump from $50 to $200 in a single issue was good enough proof for me.

I don't know much about the set, but judging by some of the completed sold listings on eBay, I'd say the prices are pretty accurate.

Just my opinion though.

Ditto here.

Of course, if the market ends up being wildly different, don't expect those numbers to change. Ever.

That is actually more accurate given larionov is a group A auto. If one popped up for auction now it would probably get anywhere and I mean anywhere from $160-300. No joke.

Make no mistake I am not defending Beckett

You're 100% correct. My point was, why did it book for $50 to begin with? Even Rogie Vachon (group A as well) books at $60. I guess what I was saying was, they didnt have a clue to begin with. Sure there's been a recent inflation on group A prices and eBay auctions but their initial prices were pretty inaccurate.

I know it doesn't sell that much but since when Beckett books their card at the sale value ?

Come on, don't tell me you would trade the Nugent-Hopkins Auto SP for 8BV if you pulled it out!

There's people who wants to trade by BV, a lot of people i'd say, and other people who wants to trade by sale value. Beckett never listed their cards by sale value. If the autos sells for 3-5$, why not list them at 10-12BV ? That's what Beckett always did.

If they want to change now, they have to change ALL their listings IMO.

Does that makes sense that the 2012-13 Contenders Cup Contenders /999 of Duchene books for the same BV as the Youth Explosion Auto SP of Leland Irving ? No, it doesn't. Say all you want but it doesn't.

This card and others in this set should book for 10-12BV for the most comon ones. Nugent-Hopkins SP should be 40-50 IMO too.

Disregard any prices Beckett lists and you'll be ok, I'm not sure why people still refer to any of the values they publish...it seems like such a 90's thing to do. Ebay is the market for prices nowadays as this is really what the buyer/market place is actually paying, not what some becket employee fictitiously assumed a value would be. Anytime someone wants to trade/ sell based on becket value, I'm out as it is never anywhere near what the previous sales or market has already proven or has been established.

Not everything goes by ebay though. And sometimes I agree that you should check the sales on ebay, but other times, it's so much easier to trade by BV. It's simpler, always been a reference when trading ''by value'' etc.. Sure, you have to judge everything, like if a card you want to trade books for 80BV but sells for 3$ on ebay, then you can adjust, but the majority of the time, Beckett lists their card ''well''.

Panini + sticker auto = rock bottom value.

I you have busted some panini box since 10-11 you should know you hardly ever get 20% back of you purchase price.

Great stuff for people buying singles only.

A few sets gathered some interest but the most of them after the player collectors got there copies you have trouble selling auto`s and jerseys for an opening bid of 99 cents.

This was talked about in a different site. Supposedly one poster said he was talking to his contact in Beckett. He said they are redoing the way they evaluate market values starting with 2013-2104 double class. Then moving back with popular searchs/requests. This is to get more subscriptions. I know the upperdeck series one prices shocked some people but the values matched ebay and expo pricing. Score and Prizm have also seemed to be within reason too.
