Big trouble for the Isles, good for other teams trying to make it in.

The New York Islanders' playoff hopes have suffered a significant blow.

Netminder Rick DiPietro is out indefinitely, suffering from post-concussion syndrome. Sources tell TSN DiPietro is not feeling well and did not pass a neuro-psychological exam and will be out of the lineup until he feels better and can pass the test.

DiPietro suffered the initial injury in a collision with Steve Begin of the Montreal Canadiens on March 13. He missed the next two games and the Islanders lost both, giving up 13 goals in the process. He returned to action on March 20 and played in four games, posting two wins and two overtime losses. Now, though, he's affected by symptoms from post-concussion syndrome and there's no telling when he'll be back in the lineup.

OMG, we are done. Dunham is horrible and the Isles will never make the playoffs without DiPietro. Man, i am so mad that he is out now, I hope he gets back to being healthy soon. I personally think they should use Wade instead of Dunham.

I can't believe Dunham is starting again, I hate him so much. Snow might as well come down and play, Wade would do better than Dunham too, he is not cold he plays everyday for the Soundtigers.

The latest from TSN:

One published report Wednesday indicated that Rick DiPietro was expected to return as early as tomorrow in Buffalo as long as his headaches subsided, a notion one of the goalie's close friends categorized as "unbelievable" and "ridiculous." One source acknowledged that the ultra-competitive DiPietro wants to aid the Islanders in their push for the playoffs "more than anything," and stressed that the goalie "hasn't been pressured" to play by the team. The Islanders did not practice yesterday and there was no media availability. - New York Daily News

Man, I hope he comes back, they need all these wins against Buffalo, Ottawa, NJ, etc. just to get in. Our only chance is with him in goal.

Latest from NYI.com is that DiPietro did not charter to Buffalo with the team and Dunham is starting tomorrow. Which is stupid because Id rather have Dubie play.
