ITG coming out with a Brodeur Super-Box

yeah, i'm sort of feeling that show stamped vibe too. and making 1/1's for the specific purpose of putting one in each box, so that everyone gets a 1/1 doesn't exactly make it desireable either.

Just to break it down a little - 30 packs of BTP....well, the last two years' product are available at around $80/box. Call it $3.25 a pack, so $65 for those 20 packs. This year's stuff will be around the $4.25 mark right now, so another $42.50. Add a couple bucks for fudge factor and call it $110 just for the wax. That means $50 for the 1/1...and I feel reasonably confident that the 1/1s won't sell solidly enough to offset the potential beating in the wax.

It's a good idea, and if I didn't have 25-33% exchange to contend with I might give it a tumble. As it stands, I think I'll save my shekels and wait for a different offering. Someone mentioned 08-09 Superlative...? :D
 
The odds are the killer too.

It's conceivable that based on stated odds... you COULD be unlucky and get 30 packs of base. By the same logic, you could get equally lucky and have 5 or more hits.

With 30 packs of the same product, and the stated odds... you have a slightly narrower range of what to expect.
 
I am a huge ITG fan, but I don't like the price point on this one. The H&P Superboxes were such a great deal, it was almost stupid not to buy them...in fact, the 4 H&P Superboxes I busted are the only 08-09 wax I have opened. I will have to pass on these though, unfortunately.
 
If I come across this product next month, I maybe tempted.

Any chance of a Spring Expo redemption for this product too?

It would be cool if ITG could get the mesh Marty cut off the net, that would make for a sweet All-time Goalie wins mem card.
 
ITG generally makes a very sound product and I expect that even at the price point it will sell well. If the above stated numbers of 311 boxes are accurate then this product will dry up very fast.
 
I just can't understand why now?

Those other records are so close to be broken and it would have been a better time to make this kinda super duper box then. ...eh?

Wow!

I didn't think this Super Box would produce so much controversy. I'm glad I didn't put in any dinosaur bones.

Just to clarify, there will only be 300 boxes, the list has 311 but it will be updated prior to release as some of the cards will be difficult to stamp.

By the way, Marty is keeping the mesh according to his agent.

If I was a Marty fan, I would pick up a box for sure - some sweet looking cards there, no doubt about it.
 
If I collected Brodeur, or was a Devils fan, I'd be all over this....

......someday there will be a Gaborik Super Box!! :D

haha zing! poor marian killed me in my pool as I picked him year after year hoping each time this was his year

back to marty, he was my favorite goalie growing up, street hockey in a blank mesh devils-like sweater, those were the days haha, but with my limited card budget I'm also going to have to leave this one alone

perhaps I'll pick up a 1/1 on the bay if I should see one at a reasonable price spelled wrong or something :)
