ITG Patch Fake (BTP card)

Dean nailed it on this one. This seller came up on another board previously for a bogus Tools of the Trade Patch. Looking at his sold items he really likes some of the most faked patch sets. The deleted pics are just as suspicious. Buyer beware.

Darren

Sorry Doc.....Totally disagree.
I'm taking Darren's side here as well.....Same seller with another questionable (FAKE) patch in another forum.
Stay away form this guy folks, he's shady!!

Oh yeah, it's one thing to remove pics at a different date or the next time you logged on to eBay and it's another thing to remove the pics of a super duper rare multi-colored patch IMMEDIATELY after the auction ended. The only people I have EVER seen do this are all well documented fake patchers. I've actually never ever seen or accidentally come across another seller doing taking their pics down form their listing that wasn't shady and I'm on eBay A LOT.

ITG doesn't have any archives to check it out if it is a fake?

Won't be buying ITG stuff anymore because there has been growing number of these fake patches.

So with that reasoning I hope you don't touch ud product

IMO itg has less fraud with cards than anyone else

I trust their product more than the competion

Board Members;

I am not taking sides and I am not saying that the seller is legitimate.

All I am saying is that this card was brought to my attention, I contacted the seller, he agreed to remove the auction and agreed to send me the card.

I am not saying he is a good guy or that he didn't make the "fake" card, I'm just saying that I dealt with the situation and he co-operated, that's all.

Good idea to have the card; show it around the office, study it yourself, see what measures can be deduced were taken.

I suspect the creative team could learn a lot from a tampered card; here's to hoping it makes it back to you!!

Nice to see that Dr.P is trying here. It's sad as ITG provides lot's of great swatches and patches and then some yahoo wants to take it one step further. The card looks fake for sure and very interested to see what happens here. Good luck Dr.P

Contrary to what some here believe, this shows that ALL cards can/will be faked. Good on Dr. P for trying to get to the bottom of this.

It would be much tougher for ITG to prove the patches are fake though, as they usually put good ones in from the start :beer:

That's the point I was going to bring up earlier. ITG generally produces cards with stellar memorabilia pieces. So seeing something eye-catching isn't really all that uncommon. And therefore, most wouldn't question if it's real or not.

The whole patch faking/altering has been a BIG time buisness for these folks for quite some time, believe it or not. It was generally targeted towards the other sports, and now it's finally making its way to the hockey world. If there's $$ to be made, someone will figure out a way to do it. For most this is considered a hobby, but for others, its now a business.

The tough part about this whole situation, is that we dont know what these card(s) look like when they were pulled. It's virtually impossible to know what every card looks like. And not every card makes it to the internet. I know its hard to believe, but there's collectors out there that still don't use the internet. I think most of us would be shocked to see the amount of "faked" cards that are being passed around in the hobby.

Either way, kudos to Brian for stepping in and taking charge of this situation. Even though its a small step, its definitely in the right direction. And it shows that someone cares about whats going in within' this hobby.

Cheers,

Dear Board Members;

I have been extremely busy since the National as we are moving our offices.

But I did want to report that the eBay seller with the fake patch that immediately removed it from eBay when I messaged him, came to our booth at the National and gave me the card. I replaced it with a legitimate card from Customer Service.

We took the card back to our Production Staff and on close examination, we confirmed how the card was altered. It involved skill but when looking at the altered card we could tell it was tampered with.

Thank you to the board members who brought this to my attention.
