Hi guys

Just logged back into my PC this morning and headed on over to HI - only to discover that four of my player collections have been sent head over heels this weekend with the release of ITG Superlative Franchise

All of a sudden I now have more super limited cards to chase of Felix Potvin & Red Kelly - but two of my collections have been dormant in terms of card releases for some time ........ Tie Domi & Steve Thomas ( dormant until now )

I have spent some time today trying to collate the checklist and update my own player collection checklists - but I'm confused on a couple of things, hoping somebody can help ;

- base cards - are there three versions ? base, blue & gold ?
- auto cards - are there three versions ? base, blue & gold ?
- auto plus cards - are there three versions ? base, blue & gold ?

Also, for the memorabilia cards - do I assume that there are gold versions of each ?

Thanks for any help - just looking to update my lists

Hi Mal,
Sir, I feel your pain. To my knowledge, here is how it breaks down.

There are two versions of the modern base,a blue version /25 and a gold /5
Felix has 2 different base autos /19 for the blue and /1 for the gold.
Red has one base auto /40 forthe blue and /10 for the gold.

Felix has a jersey/auto /30 blue and /5 for the gold. Then here comes the fun part,
each auto number, auto emblem, auto stick and auto glove have /9 blue and /1 gold. Domi has the same.

Same for Red but he only has a auto jersey, auto number and auto emblem. Same with Stevie.

Domi has two base autos a blue /35 and a gold /10. Thomas has no base autos.

Then there are the double and triple autos to chase down!!

Sorry, don't know if it is better to make these cards for player collectors or pass on them and answer emails about why I didn't include them.

Happy collecting.

Honestly, I feel your pain, Mal. Given the...wallet reaming I was getting from UD on Sakic stuff in 05-06, it didn't bother me that ITG didn't have any Sakic for me to chase. Of course, then Brian had to go and SIGN Sakic to a contract... :p

At the same time, I missed some of the gorgeous stuff that used to come from ITG. So while it costs me a little more to chase those cards, I'm glad to add them to my collection.

YGPM by the way.

Dr. Price,
It is without question much, much, much better to make these cards. Loved the variety and diversity of the players you chose. How could one not be extatic to get a 'Hound Line' card? Thanks for a great product!!

I'm so relieved I made the decision to give up collecting earlier this year. After nine years of collecting Antropov to obsessive levels, the recent influx of game used cards would have given me fits. To this point there had only been about a half dozen cards that I grudgingly acquired. In the past two days alone, I've seen five that I would've hated to pay for.

Combine the fact that I despise game used cards, and am not fond of ITG cards and my completist attitude would have faced quite the test.

Hi Mal,
Sir, I feel your pain.

Please don't feel sorry for me - I've not bought any of them yet !!

I've seen your mail thread, I should be offering you and your wallet my sympathy :)

I create spacers for cards I don't yet own - and I try and get images of the cards which I keep in a spreadsheet until I can replace it with a scan of my own. Your thread has been of amazing assistance - to see Stumpy, Domi and Potvin cards that I can only dream of is fantastic.

Thank you and good luck on your quest

Dr Price

I'm sorry if my post sounded negative - I'm delighted that my players were included. Especially Stumpy as these are his first ever GU cards - I emailed you last season to ask if you had any plans to include him in any of your sets, you replied in the negative and my wallet breathed a sigh of relief ;)

I logged on this weekend to be astounded by Expo threads and saw Superlative Franchises - one of the most beautiful sets ever created - and saw 4 of my player collections included. It's the initial excitement of a beautiful set ( and Stumpy's first GU cards ) followed by the realisation that I probably won't own most of them ........ surely you can comprehend how that would feel to a completionist.

I want to say again - I as a collector appreciate your efforts as a company, the way you have fought against adversity is a credit to you and your employees.

I may be gutted that you are going to bankrupt me - but as an obsessive compulsive player collector thank you

As I replied before - my pain is insignificant compared to collectors such as yourself who actually chase these cards with gusto ....... I just like to watch the auctions, see the cards virtually and wish I could own them !!

It could have been worse for you - imagine if Sakic had a long and varied career with stops in Montreal & Toronto ............ the Superlatives alone would have driven you nuts !!

I look forward, as always, to see your Expo thread ( with scans ) because I'm sure you will have picked up some absolute gems.
