Kane vs. Luongo

This should be a very high scoring and entertaining series. I just hope the Canucks can get them back for what happened last year.

Go Hawks. Niemi does scare me, but hopefully the Hawks defence really steps up. Also hope we get atleast one beat down of Kesler from Ladd.

Scram - All you have to do is look at the goalies, as they say, you are only as good as your goalie (just ask the Capitals). Niemi (or worse, Huet) versus Luongo, obvious major advantage goes to the Canucks. If Luongo is on his game, this series is over in 5. If Luongo is not on his game, the series is still over in 6. Either way, the Canucks are sitting at home waiting to find out who they play in the Western Conference Finals.

I dont think so. I think Chicago takes this series.
 
I would obviously like to see the Canucks take it. I think that Luongo may have gotten back on track in the last few games. Chicago has a way of scoring in bunches, often, and we all remember what happened last year. I am not one for predictions, so I won't make one. All I want to, and expect to see is an entertaining series.

Can hardly wait for Friday. I'll have my 03-04 Playoff towel, jersey, hat, and scarf rockin' on Friday, and throughout the series.
 
Goaltending - Vancouver
Defense - best 2 are on Chicago but overall, Vancouver
Forwards - Vancouver
Sand paper - Vancouver
Coaching - Vancouver

Ability to Win - Chicago
 
I'll be rooting for 2 things in this series.

1) Chicago to win
2) No overtime games in Vancouver. It's going to be tough enough to wake up the day after a 3 period game out west.

I think if the Canucks are to have any shot of winning this series, they had better be focused on this series, not who they face next. Vancouver has a very underrated offense, but Chicago is so explosive, and Niemi is playing well. Luongo played well his last two games, but before that...questionable at best. Luongo will need to play the best hockey of his career for Vancouver to win this one. Chicago seems to want it badly, they just come across as a team that does anything to win. I don't get that from Vancouver. This series should be close, and could go either way. Both teams have goalies who could play great and win them the series, or poo the bed and cost it for them. It will be interesting to say the least.
 
Luongo will not have to play his best but he will have to be solid - I see this series stretching out to six or seven but either way we are going to have to win a game or two in the United Center which is no easy task.

Biggest suprise of the series - Geico giving Sopel some time off from shooting caveman commercials to play.

Well if that's the case, I can't wait to watch Pascal Leclaire shine for the Senators this round. I wonder if Craig Anderson will continue to be spectacular going up against Chicago. But yes, the oh-so-hot Robert Luongo with his 89.3% save percentage and 2.92 GAA are unbeatable; what a hot streak!

I REALLY don't see the Canucks looking past this series, given what happened (up 2-1 in the series, up 1-0 in game 4 before losing in OT) last year. I think Chicago wants it more this year, because as it stands right now, they don't have much wiggle room next year, and are likely to lose 2-3 "core" players unless they can get lucky and unload some big contracts.

Compared to the Canucks looking ahead, I'm more worried that **IF** the Canucks win this series, the next series will be a let down as they might view a) beating Chicago and b) getting furthur than last year as "good enough".

Apparently numbers are the be-all end-all of goaltender discussions and watching them play has no bearing on how good a goalie has been.

Luongo is a better goalie than Niemi - to say different is biased at best.

Watching them play is the most important. While Luongo is one of the best in the world, even Canucks fans must see that he has at times had issues winning the big game. He was rocked in game 7 last year, when he should have came up his strongest. I'm not saying Niemi is better, although I think he has been very good and is very underrated right now, but I am saying that either team's goalie could end up costing them. Even Vancouver's wonderful Luongo. If I had my choice between the two, I would certainly take Luongo right now, but don't put too much stock in your superiority in goaltending, especially when the opposing team has had his number in the past.
