So now we know he’s going to the Devils, what do you think a Hughes YG will be priced at?

Out of the gate I can see $200 US with it settling at $125 US.
 
Unless he really has a hot start, $80-100 similar to Jack Eichel.
 
Hughes biggest trouble is that it is NJ.

If this was a Major Market team, NY/Chi/Col/Phi/Det/ (insert any team from Canada)

His price would easily be $100-125
Being NJ....$85 to start...end will be about $40-$50
 
Isn’t this going to be on par with Nico ?

Whatever Hischer was at out of the gates, tack about $10-20 on.

He's an American, which, ironically, used to "hurt" your value. Being that Patrick Kane and Auston Matthews have made it "cool" to be American and a #1 pick again, I think his value will be decent out of the gate.

That said, his value still is not even close to the level of any stud Canadian kid who would potentially go #1.

I agree with this. And if he's cold out of the gate - which, to be fair, is a more reasonable expectation than one of Immediate Impact (TM) - cut that in half.

I agree, hard, with both of these.

We'll now be subject to tons of talk how Hughes will be a game changer for Jersey, players like this only come around so often, etc, etc, etc.

There is every reason to expect he'll be a really good player - but look at all the forwards drafted #1 since 2005. Two of them get the "generational" tag, arguably three more could be considered "superstars". One of them was a total bust, and the others are varying degrees of "star" player.

Jack Hughes is far more likely to be turn out to be as great of an NHLer as Taylor Hall or RNH are, than Tavares or Kane. He's certainly unlikely to hit Crosby or McDavid levels.

I guess what I'm saying: He'll ultimately get Hall / Hopkins / Hischier type money.... but people would pay Tavares money for him, if he was in a bigger market.

He'll get a big bump for being the #1 pick.... but if he's not in the Calder race, it'll fade.
 
Does anyone know there auto status?
If they go leaf like Nico & Patrick all there value will probably be lower as it seems people are less interested in collecting players that don't sign UD rookie year
 
Hughes has a lot more hype behind him than Hischier ever did. I think it'll far surpass Hischer's initial value

Mackinnon YG are going for about $40-$50
P Kane YGs $80-$90


I think this is his potential High/low as long as he stays a Star player in the league
 
Draft him @ #1 & have him sit in the minors or back in juniors for a year. Now, that doesn’t make him a 2019-2020 rc until a late season call-up. Value? Find him in The CUP as a redemption rc or in MVP. His value would definitely take a hit but he would be sitting in UD S1 for sure...30% less than he would be if he came out the previous year. He would be a better player overall, but the development year would hurt his value. Think if Ovi came into the league before Crosby and still put up those numbers.
