What started out as a bit of a funny thought, when I thought about it further, I thought, why not?
Heres a guy who won 3 Stanley Cups as a player (94, 97 & 98) and 1 as an assistant coach with the Red Wings. During his career he only scored 162 points (80G/82A), but he wasn't there to score goals, his role was different.
Are there players in there who are worse than Kocur? Are there players now who have got far more of a chance than Kocur so he'd have no chance? Im not 100% sure of the criteria but I know Kocur did leave the NHL and was playing in a Detroit beer league for a while, would that prevent him getting in? Is there an unwritten rule - no tough guys (Mr Hockey & Sprague Cleghorn aside)?
Surely it cant be a fluke that he won 3 Cups as a player on 2 different teams - 2 teams that hadn't won a Cup in a generation?
Who next, Semenko? Although he only won 2 Cups.
