By now most of you probably know that Jonathan Papelbon is out for the rest of the season. What I found interesting when I heard the news though is that he wants to be a starter next season. What do you all think on this? Good move since he has showing he can throw shut out innings? If not broke don't fix it? Translation he has a great gig as is so why mess with it!! Vote for which you think Jonathan should do next year.

Sorry I think I need to fiddle around more with the options..it is showing who voted yes or no...does not really matter but I thought that option was to show the over stats not who voted for Jonathan to be a starter or closer...

He should be a starter, some great closers have become great starters.

Now he can ask Boston for crazy starter money

Papelbon wouldnt make it as a starter. Not enough stamina. Most good closers were starters FIRST and then later in the career reestablished themselves as top quality closers. Cant think of anyone that has been tremendously successful as a closer turned starter.

Papelbon deserves the bucks regardless.

Why not start him. He used to be a starter in the minors. Give him a shot and if it does not work put him back as a closer. I think that he will be a decent starter.

he-man thanks i meant to ask what did he do in the minors...the transition back to starter should not be hard...I just feel if it is not broke dont fix it but perhaps that is what he wants to do...Detroit it fighting Joel Zumaya over the same thing as he was a starter through most of his minor league career...
