thanks, i'll be sure to keep an eye on this one. at least i know the Rangers octograph will definitely sell for less than this one.
 
I made an offer and got this reply: "these go for 2000-3000"

I am truly wondering and not in a snarky way if there is data that supports that statement.

I would love to have this card but nowhere near that price point.

There is. Go back through short reports and you can find sales figures for other Octographs. I would also add that those had shorter print runs (/3 rather than /5) and sold for less than his projected.

truly doubtful. i know what Lee's 3 octographs with Ovechkin, Lundqvist, et al went for and that was with a seller holding the 3rd copy hostage to complete the quincy and none came even close to the range that seller is quoting.

If that's the case then good for the seller!! I didn't think cards sold that high anymore unless it was a nice cup rc of crosby or something like that!
 
I saw this earlier this morning. As a Datsyuk and Wings fan/collector, it's a fantastic card but I'm starting to get annoyed with crazy prices. Stuff like this is great for sellers if they can get the price (which this seller will not), but more and more pricing like this will continue to be a detriment to the hobby and start pushing more and more collectors away because as others have mentioned, there are a lot of better things that you could spend that type of money on.

Sorry rambling a bit since I just woke up. I just hate seeing prices like this (yes, I realize it's a best offer, but the fact that the seller responded that a card like that sells for 2000-3000 has no merit.).

i think you mis-read that. steve noted they were numbered less and sold for less. i think his initial "there is" comment was in regards to dave's wondering if there was documentation.
 
I am an SPA fan all the way and far be it for me to be the measure of the market. IMO the card is worth minimum $1500. There is a 08-09 SOTT Triple Howe/Gretz/Messier that BV's for $1000. This card is an original six team with 8. Of course price guides aside, only us collectors are nuts enough to drop coin like we do on cards. Honestly though, I wish they were hard signed not stickers. That would surely justify a $3000 price tag.
 
For comparision, I got $1600 CDN for the Octo I pulled last year (Gretzky/Messier/Kurri/Anderson/Fleury/McDonald/Macinns/Mullen).

I think if he had a BIN of $1500 on it with best offer or even $2000 with best offer I probably wouldn't say boo about it. $3500 for any card is pretty steep to me but it's his card and he can do whatever he wants with it. To me I'd say it would have a value of about $1000! What do I know though..:)

At open auction, I would be surprised to see this card reach $1500 let alone exceed that mark. Perhaps $12-1300.

That said, when the Howe guys get going anything can happen.

As you sure know i had to slow down with the hobby an my Zetty Collection. 2 reasons . First the time that i don`t have ,and second the kind of bidding that drive the prices up to heaven. Stuff like this is great for sellers and everybody else that pull a card like that and give them a chans to get back some investment if they can get the price they wan`t (which this seller will not).I agree with some comments here that more and more pricing like this will continue to be a detriment to the hobby and start pushing more and more collectors away because as others have mentioned, there are a lot of better things that you could spend that type of money on. I love comming over and see NHL LIVE.... Travel and enjoy your company. I can pay and don`t have problem to pay but there has to be a limit. My limit came a long time ago when we wen`t to war with zettys great cards. One of the reasons why we have
prices for cards like this.

I lett this kind of auction go as David payed or have to pay much more if i continue right . If they are 5 of them sooner or later the second will show up , and if the first go for stupid money than the seller expect to get the same money.... and so on...

I remember some people paying 1500 for a Zetty 1/1 here !!!! I don`t need to say more i think
