And I've officially bought my last pack or box of Upper Deck product.

I don't know who remembers my post about sending back my factory damaged 2004-05 SPA Gretzky SOTT SP for replacement, but I called the day I pulled it and asked if they had replacement stock and if it was worth sending back.

I was given a flat out 'yes' by the customer service rep to send it back because they did have replacement stock.

So I found out today that sometime in the 3-day trip my card took from Lethbridge to whereverthehell (Carlsbad) Upper Deck is located that that stock was depleted and my card was being sent back to me with some small compensation for the shipping.

If there are less than 100 copies of a card made, how many are going into packs damaged so that whatever stock they told me they had was depleted.

When I asked if there was a lesser (but better condition) Gretzky auto he could send me in lieu of the damaged one, his response was "we're not kids trading cards on a street corner". But wouldn't it be nice if we could go back to those days.

Of course we aren't kids on a street corner, but shouldn't you even look into the possibility of finding one that wasn't damaged? Send me a $12.00 to cover the shipping, but don't think that will make me a happy, repeat customer.

I don't think Upper Deck should have packed out a damaged SOTT, even if it was Gretzky - and the bottom line is quality and making up for selling damaged goods.

If I went to Sears, they wouldn't tell me to keep my broken bedframe because they didn't have any more in stock. They'd try to make things right by giving me a similar bedframe that wasn't broken.

BEFORE YOU REPLY THAT YOU'D BE THRILLED TO PULL THE GRETZKY NO MATTER WHAT THE CONDITION, I WAS - I'M JUST TICKED THAT IT WAS BRUSHED ASIDE SO EASILY (ESPECIALLY AFTER BEING TOLD IT WOULD BE REPLACED).

Rant over, Mike out.

Man, that's horrible. I have had to call UD three times now within the last two weeks and I have got the same guy every time  . Of course he knows nothing about hockey and his information has been useless for the most part - I wonder if it is the same guy who seems to say anything just so you will hang up. It's been said before but should be said again, hockey doesn't seem to be a priority for them  .

Sounds like you've been talking to Steve Luevano (sp) Jr. Got him a couple times myself and it has been an utter waste of time, he has no knowledge of the products they produce.

Yup... that guy wasted 4 weeks of my time trying to get a replacement issue resolved. Then, I spoke to someone else and got it resovled in two days!

They do not care about the customer at all when developing products, pricing them, or resolving issues.

I believe he's the guy that told me the card would be replaced. It wasn't until I spoke to James (top notch all the way) that the ball started rolling.

Check your email - just sent you some other useful info for you.

I was talhing to Luevano about an UD Ultimate Jose Theodore Buyback Redemption. I wanted to know what the print run was and was told "Sorry we don't make our autopgraph numbers public".

Ummm..... yes you do the buybacks are all numbered.

Response - "We still don't make our numbers public"

I was so dumbfounded I couldn't say another word, just hung up the phone laughing.

Upper Deck seems to plumb new depths, just when you think they can't possibly get any more unfriendly to the customer. I'm still stung from the replacement rejection I got when I returned a SPx Spezza RC that was slightly creased (at their request, I might add) - a whole 5 weeks after the product was released - only to be rebuffed, and reimbursed with a single pack of Victory Hockey...after them holding the card for 6 months! Thanks a million, UD!

Talk about irony. . .

My department just moved floors in the same building. The VP who occupies the office adjacent to my department is named. . . Christopher Carlin.

I should sneak into his office after hours and see if there are cards lying around. :D

" BETTER BUISINESS BUREAU" not sure if Canada and the States have the same thing, but isn't that what they are supposed to deal with. Poor buisinesses that have crappy Service, Porducts and take advantage of their customers.

That is terrible, I may have been able to understand UD, but they told you I could be replaced. I guess they dont care after you have payed for the packs...

They know that there the only game in town, if ITG can't get a licence there done. I think UD knew last year that they would be the only ones producing cards this year and we will just keep buying. and I'm just as guilty and anyone else. Putting up with this crap and keep buying.

I guess that if you know that your the only supplier then its okay to threat your customers like crap. Thanks UD

My 2 cents

They're (CS reps) almost likely sitting around playing poker! And they'll tell ya almost anything to get back to their game! ;) LOL!

Anyways, Mike

Here's to you sorting this out!
