Just how bad is the mail right now?

I'm still waiting for my package from Russia from May.

Good news it arrived in Mississauga last week before being sent to Montreal. So I'm still waiting. Hoping it gets here by Labour Day. :groove:

I am sure many will disagree with me. But it is depressing to me to open this board and see this post at the top again... still.

Shipping has always been and will continue to be good, bad, and ugly. Shipping is a huge part of the hobby and bad shipping experiences are the worst part of the hobby. So we don't have to one-up bad stories, or match bad experiences with good ones. Move on...

If you're a newbie and want advise, please ask. But everyone else stop feeding the bear.

Just sayin'

I do disagree, I think it is helpful for people to come and share and vent about their own experiences with the mail system. I know for me shared experiences makes me a little less anxious about the long standing mail I’m still waiting on.

I think in the USA it is especially important when they are publicly saying they are purposely slowing the mail system. Not so much about the hobby but about the general state of things politically.

Usually I would agree with you, but during the pandemic we are all facing varying mail times with our cards at this moment in time. I've found it to be very helpful to see other peoples experiences with their mail days (where it was shipped from, timelines, delivery dates, etc) during this whole ordeal. It gives me hope that while it has been a long time, my card will arrive.

I don't think it's about one-upping or sharing bad experiences, I think right now it's all about sharing information and this thread is great for that.

This. I see nothing wrong with having a place to share our experiences. It reminds me of sharing stories of your kids with other parents and afterwards you’ve had a good laugh and feel better that your own kids aren’t the only ones that make you wonder if the will ever be able to function on their own!

Got my package from three weeks ago and it took a little longer b/c my buddy only paid 2.85 first class for shipping. The weird thing is that shipping never updated in Canada and it says the package is still in transit lol.

On a somewhat related topic what is the cheapest way to send a couple of cards with tracking to the USA from Canada? I have a couple of care packages I want to get out, and want to make sure they get out safely. Thanks!

My first Brodeur package took 8 weeks from the Czech Republic, but, it showed up. That's where I'm fine with the delay. If a package shows up and the contents are mangled or the package doesn't show up at all, then there is a problem, especially after the window to file a complaint has closed.

In these uncertain times of 2020, I'm just happy when a package arrives, early, on time or later than expected.

28 July mailed from Winnipeg, arrived in North Carolina today. I don't mind the wait, as I get it these days. However, I got numerous other cards from all over Canada (including Winnipeg) within the last couple of weeks that were mailed out much later.

It's all a head scratcher.

I’ve got a package coming from California to Ontario shipped on August 11th last update was August 14th and still waiting it’s a really nice card I can only hope it arrives I check multiple times a day to see if it’s updated

And this past week, I had some of the quickest international mail roll in. Stuff from the Czech Republic came ultra quick and from Canada rolled in within a week to 10 days. I was pleasantly surprised and happy.

Sent a package on Thursday to New York and ETA is September 15th. Not bad!!! Sent it with tracking which cost an arm and a leg..

I'm no longer experiencing any delays, USA to Canada is typically 7-9 days and Canada to Canada is about 5-6 days.

Everything I'm sending seems to be arriving in timely fashion now. With the only exception going from BC to ON/QC. Very slow...

Valhalla NY to Calgary , Alberta sent "Priority Mail" 16 business days. From their delivery standard for this service it says 6-10 business days . The good news is the card inside is sweet

It's much better now...I have one card incoming that left Winter Garden, Florida on September 3 and just cleared customs and was processed at the facility in Canada on September 8. That's amazing, IMO.
