Just how bad is the mail right now?

For anyone in the US, you can use the USPS alerting mechanism on their site. It *seems* to have sped things along. I had something that tracking said was stuck in WA since Feb 12th. After signing up for the alerting, it magically showed up today at the regional facility an hour away from me.

No, I doubt it sped across the country in 12-hours, but I think it causes them to go finding it for an update. No telling how long it has actually been at the regional facility, but anecdotally it seems to have helped.

I had a card take almost 3 weeks to go from Chilliwack to Burnaby. The first time it took 3 days. I think all bets are off with Canada Post. The cards arrive..........eventually

Yeah, I think weather + covid is hampering and making things inconsistent, I've had stuff delivered in a week and a half this year from Can -> US and now this so who knows. I'm honestly okay with slow, it's the no updates and possibility of it being lost that gnaws at me haha.

Oof. Similar position to me then, Jamaica is pretty backed up then. Hoping we get our stuff soon then

not to sound pro canadian or anything, but canada post has always updated things more clearly for me and when there was a covid outbreak at the mississauga facility earlier this month it was easy to google and see what the delay there was about. plus the delay was only a week. it is this lack of information that really pisses me off and the inability for anyone at usps to explain wth is going on. are they really that clueless??

Even before Covid mail within the lower mainland has always been slow in my experience.

When an item is stuck as "International Item has left originating country and is en route to Canada", does that generally mean it's waiting for customs or could it have been lost along the way?

as far as i know items only get lost after they are delivered and don't show up. your message means it is going through customs and u should get an update when the item is processed.

with my awkward experience of my package going to finland, that was a scanning error which sent it there and after it went there my package didn't update until it made its way to toronto. about six weeks later.

Got a package today, from Sweden, that was mailed on December 8th.

It wasn't tracked, so I'm not sure which end the slow down was on (maybe both?). The seller (via Tradera) seemed 100% legit to me, so I was never concerned that it hadn't been sent - but since we were approaching 3 months, I was starting to think I'd never see it.

Happy it made it here, but that is SLOW.

Update, package arrived on Saturday to its destination in the US. Mail has been moving pretty decently overall in the US as I've had several packages delivered to my forwarding address in a timely fashion. Happy to have the big one outta the way now.

Usually when I've had that it's not lost but it hasn't reached customs yet. It might just be in the backlog of everything. When it reaches customs I usually see an update stating that it has reached customs.

buddy got his package last week. read in a facebook group that when stuff gets back logged in the usa it gets rerouted to other locations which probably makes the mail slower lol. good going.

Received an ebay package yesterday that was shipped on February 6 from Alberta to BC.

Received a similar package from Albert to BC that was shipped on February 25 and that was in hand on March 4

Canada Post going to Canada Post! lol

Received (2) packages from the same seller... 1 took 1 day and the other took 8 days. WTF? Exact same from-to locations. Was surprised in the 1 day delivery.

And now I have (3) outgoing Canada to USA packages that were checking in to custom in BC on March 13th that have no updates since then.... just waiting for the ebay chargebacks now. I guess customs it back to being screwed.

And last month I had a package (again to the US) that did the following:

Calgary
Vancouver
San Fransisco
WARRENDALE, PA
GREENSBORO, NC
CHARLOTTE, NC

I had to google maps that trip as I was thinking that doesn't seem correct. Did the cross country tour.

Anyone ever had a package show as delivered but nothing ever show up?

Either it was stolen or dropped by accident or put in the wrong community mailbox but Canada Post is investigating. Lame.

I feel for you. I had something like this happen here in the States a few years ago with a Hasek autographed card. We had two postal workers - our great regular guy - and his holiday fill-in. Fill-in guy was notorious for putting mail in the wrong box and they are not allowed to fix it once the mail is "delivered" (placed in a box) unless that mail is surrendered back to them.

I think it was two years after the card was listed as delivered that our regular guy finally brought it to us directly. I forget what stipulation happened, but it allowed him to quality check all the mailboxes on his route. I'm in an apartment and the fill-in guy had put it in a box that belonged to a unit that had been vacant for years. Regular guy said the vacant box was completely packed full. :|

Yes I had this happen once. September 3rd last year, Thursday before the long weekend. I figured it went to a neighbour by mistake and would be in my mailbox the next day but it wasn't. Then stupid me it was the long weekend and I forgot to contact Canada Post about it. When I did contact them, I can't remember for sure if it was Tuesday or Wednesday, they opened a ticket for me to look into it but immediately closed it saying that they couldn't do anything because it was more than 72 hours afterwards. They couldn't even confirm with me what address it was delivered to, as I was thinking maybe there was a mistake on it as tracking only states the city it is delivered in.

Yea I’m sure that’s the case here (delivered to wrong mailbox)

It’s not a stupid expensive card, luckily, but not something easy to track down. Hope it shows up via a neighbor or something.

Anyone notice bigger than normal delays with mail from
Alberta? Specifically from Alberta to BC?

Purchased an item on ebay on March 11 and was supposed to be delivered by March 24 per ebay's deliver latest estimate.

My package from LA got to me in Toronto in less than two weeks. I also read something about the USPS that they are going to slow First Class service from 3 to 5 days. Ya, makes sense.

I had a WOW with the postal service today.

Saturday afternoon early I sold a card to a buyer in Rancho Mirage Calif. The postman had not run yet so I got the card all wrapped up & in the mailbox for pickup. When I checked tracking this afternoon the card showed delivered. This was from just east of Nashville Tennessee to California in less than 48 hours including Sunday.

That card must of hit every stop at just the right time.
