This caused me to chuckle!

Weight considering St. Louis return

From the tsn.ca files!

A few hours after joining the Carolina Hurricanes, Doug Weight already was plotting his return to the St. Louis Blues.

Thanks for droppin' in!

Brian

you know though and i cant compare my sports career to professionals but I am very loyal to the teams that I play on (not always a good thing lol I think). So to that point I can understand what he saying but I have heard other athletes say things similar to that or that they want to go to other teams. I believe Chris chelios wanted to leave Detroit and go back to Chicago within days of the trade to Detroit, look at him now he won't leave Detroit. Another one was Rasheed Wallace who was traded to Detroit said he wanted to sign with NY Knicks the next year as a free agent but still in Detroit. Sorry on second one but painting a picture of the other side of the story. I would not be shocked if Weight went back to St. Louis he has spent a good part of his career there and it is a nice town to live, plus not sure but maybe Brian or someone else knows if he has kids and of what age. Those things could factor in as well specially depending on the age of kids. Anyways just a couple of rambling thoughts---as if I really know anything lol. thanks for posting that Brian. jason

Sweet! If you seen his house here you'd understand, lol! Not sure about him having kids, but I do know he likes it here and we love having him, but you never know. A cup could change his mind really quick!

The thing I'd worry about if I was with the Hurricanes right now, would be wondering if Weight's head is in the games, and not thinking about St. Louis.

I mean, they did give up a lot for a "rental" player.

I don't think you can question Weight's mental focus. DW's a professional and a class guy. Any veteran would give their left nut to win a Cup and Weight has that chance with one of the best teams in the league. Plus, I'm pretty sure he knew he was going to be traded at some point before the deadline. I'd be willing to say that having that element hanging over his head would affect his mental focus more than the event of being traded itself.
He's a UFA at season's end and he can go wherever he pleases. It would be foolish to not consider all the options, but if he has a home and family established in St. Loo, I'd expect him to go back there, play a few more years and retire a member of the Blues.

I can see Doug Weight going back to the Blues. Wouldn't surprise me. However, I'd like to see him go back to Edmonton, possibly for Mike Peca.

He's an unrestricted free agent at season's end... If Edmonton wants him, all they have to give up is the greenbacks.

Well I'm happy he moved. I traded for him (poolie), hoping he may play with my Staal.
Saw an interview with Canes coach Peter Laviolette and he said he'll put Weight wherever there's a hole in the lineup on any given night. I have Staal, Brind'Amour, Cole, Whitney, Stillman and Weight all on my rotisserie team, so hopefully Weight's presence will bring many goals, assists and PP points to everyone involved. :)
