Kovalev Given Time Off By Canadiens

Because I'm curious, what the heck is "mestrating"? If you're going to feminize somebody, at least use a real word eh? :p

He's not a bum at all maybe a mestrating woman LOL but what makes it frustrating as a Habs fan is when he is motivated no one can dangle like him, I bet there is alot of guys in the NHL that wish they had half of his talent

1/2 his talent? reference to "mestrating woman" - "hooked on phonics..." LOL.

Where were you last night loser? Helping Rick move?

And Chris, loose the man-love for Kovalev - he played his year out at the all-star game. He's done - but he will look good back in Pittsburgh.

I think Kovalev's an amazingly talented player. But he's dirty as hell, and can milk fake injuries better than anyone since Claude's better days. Add that to the fact that he stays out for 9-minute shifts and likes to keep the puck while skating through each opposition player twice before beating the goalie, swooping around the net, and then having it pokechecked...not a fan.

I can't imagine how Habs fans deal with this guy. There may not be a more talented player in the league today, yet he's a second tier guy because of effort and desire.

Actually, I can sort of imagine that. After all, the Sabres have Tim Connolly who is also extremely talented but instead can't be looked at without getting injured.

This years production is not irregular for Kovalev, in my opinion last years stats were padded by a Mark Streit directed power play.

I think he could produce decent numbers again if he was traded to Pittsburgh though. He does take care of himself so I don't think his age is much of an issue.

It is one of the more frustrating things as a Habs fan watching l'Artiste in action. He can truly bring you out of your seat with some of his dipsy-doodles and dangles, but then have you ready to throw your TV out the window on the next shift.

I am just going to pretend I wrote this because it is exactly what I think of Kovalev.

You know what, those that knock his heart and talent (me included) are wrong. Kovalev does play with a lot of heart and emotion... at least he has the last couple of years for the Habs.

His problem is that he's just not smart with the puck anymore. Instead of passing he goes for the deke, instead of shooting he goes for the pass. He hits the post like 20x a game.

This is not the floater from 05-06 and 06-07. He's just trying way way too hard out there. It's not a matter of a lack of heart imo.

I find Kovalev plays his best when he's really pissed off, like when he takes a big or cheap hit, or when he makes a mistake with the puck.

lul..

I know, thats my point. He has some of the best talent in the game, he always has had it. But he makes dumb decisions too often, then plays lazy after making his dumb plays

He reminds me a lot of Samsonov in his last year with Boston.

And I wouldnt know about the woman thing....but he does play like he is a bum more often than any fan would like to believe. I mean come on, I have watched the guy for his entire career, he got away with his laziness in his first years because he had the talent to back himself up. But he has always been this way, he has gotten bigger and more expereinced, but he still plays without the fire talented players like that need. I cant help but love ovechkin for his flame.
