Kris Letang out 6 weeks after having a stroke

I was just reading about his " undisclosed illness" on TSN this morning and never thought it be this. Here is hoping for a full and speedy recovery.

Letang is most likely out for the year. 6 weeks back playing NHL hockey after having a stroke is ridiculous. He needs to worry about living a good life rather than playing hockey.

Absolutely couldn't agree more. Hopefully he has a full recovery and is able to have a strong and positive quality of life in the wake of this. Hockey can definitely take a backseat and they shouldn't even be talking about a timetable for him to be back playing again.

Realize that not all strokes are made the same guys - if the doctors say he can play again in 6 weeks, there's no reason not to believe them. I'd be more concerned that they ensure he receive proper medical protocols once he goes on the blood thinners and plays a physical game like hockey.

News releases are now indicating that Letang was born with a small hole in his heart, and that was most likely the contributing factor. With that information it is quite possible that his return could be sooner - although I would imagine that at some point there may be a surgical fix.

Hoping for the best!

I finally saw the report myself and it says he will be re-evaluated after 6 weeks - no timetable given for his return.
