Lafleur found guilty

I will be very surprised if he does time at all. Im thinking he gets a fine (hefty one) and boat load of community service hours or something along those lines.

Well, 99 1/3, anyway.

I feel kind of sad. Lafleur was one of my heroes when I was a kid. He broke the law. He needs to be punished, even if it was his son involved.

I completely agree with your statement but I guess not so much with the sentiment that went with it. Even when Lafleur was in his glory years, his family life was unstable to say the least. I have no problem separating his personal life with his great career. He will always be my HERO.

What Lafleur did was wrong but I understand why he did 100%, I'd put my son in the first place too I guess..

There comes a point where even your own Children need to be held responsible. You are nto "protecting" your children when you shiled them from the consequences of their actions, but rather making the situation much worse. I understand we all want whats best for our kids, but many people have no idea what that means. they think that "I wont let my kid go to jail" is the way to protect them. Tel me if they didnt lear from you growing up, and you go through hoops to prevent the law from teachign them, then who will??? the answer is they never learn it.

Lafleur lied, and you must make it clear to people lieing in court or to the court will not be tolerated, ala Martha Stewart. He deserves what he gets and I bet this is not the last run in with the law for his son.

I don't have any kids, but I would do whatever it takes to protect my family and would live with the consequences of my actions. Lying in court is a bad thing, but no way I would throw any of my family members "under the bus" to protect my own arse in court. My $.02... Mike

There is no blanket answer to any of these situations, so let me get that out of the way.

My point is that what protection or good are you doing for the kid if you lie to get him out of jail and he goes about comitting the same crimes again??? Your doign him more harm, then good. At soem point he/she needs to learn that they cant get away with what theyre doing, and the parent has already demonstarted they cant or just havent taught that to the kid.
