Hey all, Joe Pawich here. Haven't really taken the time to showcase the additions I've made to my Larry Murphy collection over the past few months, so in an effort to do that (and see if doing so helps draw any others out of the bushes), here they are:
08-09 ITG Superlative Famous Fabrics Enshrined 7/9. First (and so far only) /9 version of this card I had ever seen, and the perfect companion piece that I was looking for for my Gold 1/1 version.
08-09 ITG Superlative Defensemen Quad Memorabilia Gold 1/1. Coulda tried the slightly lesser opening bid, but no, I wanted this one and didn't want to leave it to chance, so I hit the BIN and paid a bit more than I wanted to. It is a 1/1, with Tim Horton no less, so that's a neat bonus. It's one I wasn't sure I'd ever see hit the market, so I was glad to knock it off the list and bring it home.
08-09 ITG Superlative Blue And White Debut 9/9. Missed a nice 2-color copy of this card on Ebay last summer because "Larry Murphy" was nowhere to be found in the auction listing title, and was growing increasingly bitter because I hadn't seen another copy since. But in December, my patience was finally rewarded when this baby popped up. This time, I made no mistake.
08-09 ITG Superlative Defenseman Quad Memorabilia 9/9. After being rebuffed on other copies of this card due to ridiculous BIN prices on the Bay, this one finally popped up in a standard auction with a low starting bid, and I was vindicated by winning it for a fraction of others' asking prices. As you can see, the perfect companion piece to my Gold 1/1, especially with the almost identical GU layout.
06-07 UD Artifacts Tundra Tandems dual patch w/ Chris Chelios 9/10. Came from HI's own canucksfreak19, who noticed that this parallel didn't exist on my website or wish list, alerted me that he had it and offered it up. Though I was disappointed with how much nicer the Chelios patch was than the Murphy, the fact remains that it has a nice multicolor patch of each player, and you don't see these cards in circulation out there much anymore. I needed it, so I got it.
04-05 ITG Franchises East Original Sticks Silver. Added this to the wishlist (and subsequently knocked it off) when I decided to concentrate on getting a copy of every Murphy GU parallel. This one was a nice 2-color that fit the bill.
04-05 ITG Franchises East Original Sticks Gold. See above.
04-05 ITG Franchises East Original Sticks Silver Spring Expo show-stamped 1/1. As a show-stamped version of the earlier silver card, and as a version I didn't have, it found its way onto my list. So even though the stick was as plain as day, I snapped it up.
09-10 UD SPX Flashback Fabrics. Nice 2-color copy of this card. 'Nuff said.
09-10 UD Trilogy Classic Confrontations. Kudos to HI's TurcoCollector5 Tim for alerting me to the existence of this card - most Ebay sellers don't hype up Murphy's presence as a selling point for some reason, so I might have missed it otherwise. But once I did learn of it, I knew I wanted a good one, and though I paid a bit more for this one than I thought I might have to, it's nice to have it out of the way. And as a Lemieux and Murphy (barely) 2-color, it has an extra advantage over the other copies I've seen so far.
08-09 ITG Superlative Nameplate Letter Y. OK, so I didn't get this one...yet. It showed up on Ebay a couple weeks ago while I was at work, and in the span of a couple hours, it was sold for a Best Offer and I never even had a chance. "Who on earth would buy this except Joe?" you ask? Good question, and I'm desperate to find out the answer myself, since I already have 3 of the nameplate letters and need this one if I ever hope to complete it. So I'm trying to learn who the buyer was from Ebay, but if that proves to be a dead end, it's gonna be tough. If ANYBODY out there has any knowledge of who has this card, please let me know and I will do my best to reward you for your help if I can secure it.
In the meantime, feel free to view my collection in all its glory at http://www.flickr.com/photos/41468449@N04/sets/ and if you own or know where I can find any Murphy autographed card, GU card, GU parallel or 1/1 not already represented on my site, by all means, let me know.
Thanks for looking;
