I've talked about this card before because it's one of a kind:



That's Sean Burke wearing the old Whalers jersey with the 75th anniversary patch. Here's the trick: Burke didn't play for Hartford in 1991-92. So what is this? It's a pre-season game. The Whalers unveiled the navy blue re-design in 1992-93 and didn't want to spoil the reveal in the pre-season. So they got everyone dressed in last season's duds, including Sean Burke. Ultra had a photographer on the scene for a pre-season game between the Whalers and the Senators and this is one of the shots.

So is this one:



Ottawa, having no prior jersey to revert to as this was their inaugural season, is already wearing the '92-93 Cup patch. So we know Burke dressed for this game, but he's not the goalie behind Turgeon. Name that goalie.

Yes, I believe you are correct, although you might not find a hockey card with Malarchuk wearing that gear. You'll note that Ramsey isn't wearing the 75th anniversary patch, so the photo is likely not from 1991-92. Malarchuk left the Sabres after the 1991-92 season, so this photo might be from 1990-91. The only photos I've seen of Malarchuk in that gear do not have him wearing the 75th anniversary patch.
