Laurent Monette

Pardon me for what I am about to say.... **** Cancer. I have been thinking about Laurent for the past month. Should have figured out a way to talk to him. I will miss him. He was an intimidating looking guy but truly a heart of gold. His kindness towards me, has and will always be cherished. I learned so much about this hobby from being him and Messiah just for part of day. Really wish I would have got to know him better. Sean please pass my condolences on.

RIP my friend

I didn't know this man personally, but it's sad to hear about a young man pass away far too soon. Sending lots of love to his family.

I echo Brian's thoughts. I didn't know Laurent, but it's obvious he touched many peoples' lives here and I'm sorry for all the family and friends who have been robbed of him.

I was with my brother till the end and he will be missed forever. Our last trip together to the Expo meant the world for him and left priceless memories.

My condolences to his family and friends. As someone battling this F' ing disease I understand what he went through. Thankfully the people in this hobby can create such a positive inspiration during difficult times. I am confident that he appreciated you sitting by his side as a loyal friend.

I will hoist a glass in his memory!

I never knew him personally but I do recall seeing him at Expo and I'm sure I've dealt with him over the years. In any case, it is always sad to hear of someone so young being taken far too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. May he rest in peace.

I am extremely sad to hear about the passing of a good friend of mine. I would like to pass along my condolences to Laurent's family and friends.

I will miss his regular phone calls that always started with two words: "MR. DONALDSON" in his deep, calm agent Smith from the Matrix voice. I will miss his monthly question asking if I know of any "tree colored Crosby's around" obviously said with his French Canadian accent (I think most of you will understand what that means). But more than all I will miss a close friend and a true gentleman which I am so proud to have met up with on several occasions, even if we didn't leave the airport in Montreal on any of them. Many of the PC cards I own today are because of this great man and his willingness to help me out and not shy away from a "big deal". One of these such cards is shown in my avatar (and in the pic below from 4 years ago) which will be a constant reminder of one the best guys I ever knew in this hobby. I'm going to miss you big guy!

Was able to meet Laurent several years ago at the Sportscard Expo in Toronto. At first we didn't know each other. But after both of us had been attending the show for several years. We became familiar with each other. And always exchanged pleasant conversation. Was always looking forward to hearing what he was going to acquire next. The man had some great taste.

My condolences go out to his family and friends. RIP
