Got an update from Breakaway Sports a Cards today that this product is available. I never even heard a whisper of this coming out. It has never been part of the Upcoming Release thread. I can't find a Hobby Talk post about it, and there are no breaks posted.

Looks like $300 Canadian for two cards; the buyback and then an Eichel "rookie" card.

Out of my league, but usually I at least hear about it, lol. Looking forward to some posted breaks. Also curious whether the hobby will embrace this Eichel as a rookie card, or if it is destined for the dollar bin.

Originally scheduled for February but then it was pushed 3 times I believe. Then it was supposed to be last Friday but there was a last minute push (again) to the 20th.

Hard to keep customers informed, promote or sell a product when we have no clue when it's coming out.

Breaks are up on HI and our website.

This is the product that Leaf has been buying up on ebay. If any of your cards have gone here:
Topdollar4autos
3330 Earhart Dr
Ste 204
Carrollton, TX 75006
Then you can get a chance to buy them back in this product. Woohoo!

Something I've never really understood about this product... these are all buy backs? There are none that were taken from old ITG stock and stamped, like the Vault stamps? The reason I'm asking is I have a Complete Jersey Gold (#1/1) with the "Best of Hockey (#1/1)" stamp on it. Does this mean this is IT... the only true #1/1 was purchased and then stamped with another #1/1?

If that's the case... that's a real shame... IMO.

Those were the "extra" hit last year and use of more of ITG's massive overstock. Think of it as another Vault card.

I am sure people will be rushing out to buy this for the Eichel cards.

Honestly though I am sure the AU versions will sell well since that is the only option for those but the base RC I doubt will be big hitters.

I don't believe the majority of collectors will see the Eichel cards are RC, they will be more like an insert from his rookie year like the biography of a season type cards from UD.

Is this supposed to be Leafs highest end Eichel? Just wondering since it's out of a two card pack. If it is I think the photo and airbrushing will go a long way on how collectors will view these as RCs. I know there will still be a large group that will never see it as a rc. But if I was a Sabres or Jack fan I would probably get one.

Side note. Does anyone know how long Leafs exclusive is for?
If it's only for this year it will make these cards worth less (<, not $0).
If there are no other options for autos for say 5 years and If Jack is a star then these cards gain more legitimacy as time goes on.

I believe Pearl will be Leaf's highest end release, so that should be where Eichel's highest end cards will show up.

$300 for 2 cards? That's insane.

I sold 4 or 5 cards to Leaf in the late fall and most of them were at least $300 in value so there will be some nice hits in there. I can't recall them all right now but I know one of them was a BGS 9.5 Yzerman rookie.

Our apologies for the delays. Frankly, orders came in at triple our initial planned quantity. That coupled with a very difficult buying environment made this product nearly impossible to complete.

We ended up cutting production and virtually eliminated all profit in an effort to get this out.

This is likely the last Best of Hockey for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for your patience.

1. The vibe I get is that Leaf hates UD, so I find it oddly complimentary that they are packing up UDs cards and calling them the "Best of Hockey" bahahahaha
2. It's no secret that a lot of the cards are being bought for about $30-80 on eBay and other select places - being repacked for $300, and people are ape-sh*tishly buying it up, double-bahahahahahaha!!!

I guess good on ya!?

Thank you for the reply.

If you have anyone that still needs their orders fulfilled we have some extra cases we wouldn't mind sending back.

We totally understand your situation but had we known there would be a 3 month push from the busiest time in the year for hockey sales to the historically weakest, it would have made a big difference on the amount that we pre-ordered.

Sad to here that there won't be a BOH next year. Usually one of my favorite releases... If not best of hockey... Maybe a leaf greatest hits of hockey?
