I don't think i will ever understand this set...

what do i have here? any idea on value?

Supposedly BV is $150. A NON die-cut sold for $64 on the eBay. I don't understand that set either, thankfully all of the Trevor Lindens were cheap

Card on the left is the regular base card. Card on the right is the fractal matrix die-cut.

There is also a fractal matrix version that is not a die-cut.

Both the uncut & die-cut fractal matrix sets have 3 levels. X, Y and Z. Each level has a different print run.

here ya go guys.this is the way these print runs work.basically there are 3 different colors with 1 different die cut pattern each.they are determined by the notation right below the Leaf logo above the players name like M35Richter stated.

NON DIE CUT cards print runs
----------------------
BRONZE X 1/1400
BRONZE Y 1/1600
BRONZE Z 1/1700

SILVER X 1/500
SILVER Y 1/700
SILVER Z 1/800

GOLD X 1/50
GOLD Y 1/250
GOLD Z 1/350

Now,here is where it gets confusing.while the uncut Fractal Matrix cards were a complete 200 card parallel set of the base set,the Die Cut card set was also 200 cards. despite the color of the card,like above,the die cut pattern could be on a rarer color,yet have a higher print run.such as the example shown by kevhur.the Gold uncut Thornton is 1/50,while the X axis diecut,despite being Gold,is 1/400.

DIE CUT print runs

Y axis die cut 1/200 (all colors)

Z axis die cut 1/100 (all colors)

the Die cut set breaks down by different players(cards).there is only one die cut and one color for each base card in the set.these are NOT print runs,just how many different cards are in the die cut set.

I sold that same Thornton (gold X-axis) from the OP pic for $13 on eBay in 2013. Did someone get a good deal? I believe I bought it for $7 a year before that.

the diecut Thornton above is 1/400.$13 is a decent price for it,heck you made $6.the uncut version 1/50 is the one that sold on ebay for $60+.that was a huge card at the time of release and it wasn't a true rc.'96-'97 Black Diamond had the only high end true RC of Thornton,the Quad diamond.the Leaf uncut Gold Fractal was the next SP'd Thornton "rc" and it was going for about $100-$150(thems '97-'98 dollars) cash back in the day.still a tough card to locate with only 50 copies.

Looking back I sold a Gretzky Gold X-Axis DC for $50

kev,that Bure is the uncut Y axis.the type of cut is not marked under the Leaf logo on the uncut cards.however the outline of the type of cut is imposed around the photo in one of the three patterns.i will try to get some scans up later tonight of all three.that Bure is Y Axis Uncut Gold 1/250.

that Shanny is the Gold Z axis uncut 1/350.if you look right in the bottom center between Brendan & Shanahan,the die cut imposed pattern has a ^ which dictates the Z axis.its different from the Thornton gold die cut pattern which is the X axis(just rounded bottom and top).the Y axis has die cut curves on sides and bottom/top like the X.the Z axis has that extra ^ on bottom and top with rounded sides like the Y axis.have i confused you enough yet? lol :devil:
