They didn't need to dump salary to go after anyone. They had a ton of cap room. This doesn't make any sense.

There are a couple young forwards on the Av's roster who I would love to see in a Hawks uni, and the Hawks need to dump some money. I'm hoping a trade is coming soon.

Meaning the Leafs kept their own 2nd rounder (39th overall).

Meaning the Leafs still have 25, 30 and 39.

I am ok with it. Their is a new wave of players, and new system in Colorado. Liles was a good player while he was here, but I think his best days are behind him. And the way the Av's have been drafting lately this 2nd rounder could be playing the next year.
Also even though they had room for a big contract. They can now take a run at a top FA (Hopefully Vokoun) and still have money left over to re-up the core guys in a couple years.

Ah yes, I knew that too, but for whatever reason attached it to this year.

Either way, we keep our top 3 picks this year and all our OWN picks next year. It was the conditional pick we got from Boston (if they made the finals we got an extra 2nd), so really it was a nice extra for sure to begin with.

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but I'll wait to see what happens in the next couple weeks before freaking out too much. JM was awesome when he felt like it, but lazy a lot of the time in my opinion. I'm not that sad to see him go. Would have thought we could get more than what's basically a third round pick though...

Burke stole Liles off the Avs. If the Leafs are out of the playoffs next year, you can be sure that Burke will trade Liles for at least a 2nd round.

Considering what SJ gave up to get Burns, Avs gave away Liles.

Don't know what the Avs are doing. Are they re-building? Cutting costs? sure doen't look like they're trying to make a run.
