Analysis of a Leaf Hater (I can't take credit for this):
1. Leaf bashers spend way too much time talking, studying and watching the Leafs. I hate brussel sprouts, but I don't make it a daily topic of conversation. It's for this very same reason I don't talk about the Sens or visit their forums...because I couldn't care less about'em.
2. Certain Leaf bashers actually watch most, if not all, of the Leaf games. Whether it's because they want to criticize the game afterwards or because Leaf hockey is being crammed down their throats by networks that favour Toronto, is irrelevant. The point is, they're watching. This is contributing to increased television ratings and therefore, increased revenue for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. I thank you for your continued support!
3. It's amusing that Leaf bashers get their panties in a knot when certain Leaf fans discuss the possibilities of trading Tie Domi for Peter Forsberg or that Mario Lemieux, Steve Yzerman and Todd Bertuzzi all want to play for the Leafs. While I personally have never entertained such notions, the fact that meaningless chit-chat can provoke such animosity speaks volumes of the mental stability of these bashers. Until a GM actually trades Forsberg for Domi, save your energy.
4. The "Toronto Sports Network" and the CBC are constantly chastised for being pro-Leaf. Maybe so, but it's a simple case of Economics 101. If a majority of hockey fans wanted to see Calgary games (no offense Calgary, I like the Flames) then that is what these networks would show. Television is a business, and to be in business is to make a profit. If you don't like the fact that your tax dollars are funding a biased-CBC, then that's your government's fault, not mine. If you're anger wasn't so misdirected, you might actually be able to change things.
5. It is common knowledge that many of the ignorant posts in these forums are made by Leaf bashers disguised as Leaf fans. "The Leafs won 3 games in a row! We're gonna win the cup! Let's start planning the parade route!". These posts just wreak of Leaf bashers trying to fuel the fire. Those of you who can't see through these posts - it's a wonder you had the brain capacity to turn on your computer.
6. 37 years and counting. This is a favourite among Leaf bashers. They would have you believe that we'd all be better off switching allegiance to another team. Of course, if we actually did do this, these hypocrites would accuse us of jumping off the bandwagon. These same hypocrites cringe when we remind them of our past glories, and yet they have no problem throwing their team's history in our face. Whether it happened 37 years ago, 37 days ago or 37 seconds ago, it's all history. They would have you believe that winning a cup 14 years ago is relevant, but 37 years ago is not. If that's the case, we may as well dispose of 75% of the Stanley Cup and all it's engravings before the expansion years. I've even heard some bashers (you know who you are) proclaim that their team has been to the finals twice in the last 20 years, while the Leafs have not. Wow...congratulations on being runner-up! It's a shame you don't have higher expectations for your team.
7. There are certain Leaf bashers that have made it quite clear that it is their life-long mission to turn every Leaf fan into an anti-Leaf fan. Isn't it great to have such lofty goals in life? I guess they think that if they hurl enough insults, we'll all have some sort of revelation, when actually, it increases a Leaf fan's resolve. It breaks my heart knowing these bashers will resoundingly fail their mission. But keep on trying. After all, you've got nothing else to live for.
8. Leaf management is a constant target of criticism from bashers and fans alike, although the bashers insist that management short-comings are reason enough to hate the Leaf. This, of course, is ridiculous. I can't stand the Liberal goons that are running this great land of ours, but I still love my country!
9. Some people have it in their head that Toronto is Canada's team. I'm not sure where this claim originated from. I hear this statement more from the bashers than from anyone else. I've heard it so much from them in fact, that I'm starting to believe it. Personally, I'm nominating Edmonton as Canada's team.
10. "Leaf fans are so obnoxious". We've all heard this one too. Are there obnoxious Leaf fans? Absolutely. Just like there are obnoxious Canuck fans, Hab fans, Sens fans etc. If it seems there are more obnoxious Leaf fans than Senator fans (for example), then perhaps a math lesson is in order: If Leaf fans outnumber Sens fans 10-1, then it stands to reason that there would be more obnoxious Leaf fans, right? Am I going to fast? (Uh-oh. I'm starting to sound obnoxious). For some reason, all Leaf fans get labeled the same way because of the actions of a few. This is clear-cut case of racial profiling and I demand we put a stop to it immediately!
This is all so very true... evident by being the only team that gets a thread devoted to them for missing the playoffs.
