What's old is new again for the preds. I wonder if franny and santo will get their old jerseys back lol.
 
Awesome! Finally a move lets now make some more. I happy with the return and the first rounder. I just hope oili is a free agent a seasons end as he has nothing left...
 
I think they could have done better for Franson closer to march 2.

Getting rid of $$ in Olli at end of the season is good - but I can't see Nashville's 1st Round pick being lower than mid 20's. Brendan Leipsic... who knows. Scores in the WHL - but that means nothing.
 
Ugh. Trading for another washed up player and a low first rounder. Trade Kessel for a box of cereal and phaneuf for an IOU letter.
 
The Sicamous, BC duo! Franson and Weber together again. Great deal for Nashville as they know what these players can do. Nashville's # 1 pick is almost a second rounder as they will finish in top 3.
 
Good move. Frees up cap space. I liked franson but this team needs to be rebuilt save for a few players. Santo was 29. Franson is 27. May as well go get some youth now and get the farm going properly. Detroit and nashville have shown what a solid drafting can be with late round picks. Mark hunter is there now and I hope he can pull his London Knights scouting magic for the buds.
 
These were easy ones, we knew these guys would be moved. Combining them to get a 1st overall was good. Might be a low pick but its still a first round pick, can be used as a pick or used to move up or trade etc. Oli won't be resigned with the Leafs. I don't know Leipsic so I can't really comment, seems like a nice mix of grit and scoring.

Trade works well for both teams.

Toronto wasn't going to re-sign Franson anyway for the money he wanted. Late 1st as a rental is about right. If the Preds are able to sign him, that would be huge.

Santorelli is a great 2nd/3rd line player. Hard worker and has a good scoring touch. Has a couple more years on his contract. Moved for Leipsic, who played on the Portland Winterhawks powerhouse in junior with Seth Jones and Nic Petan (Ty Rattie and Bjorkstarnd). Lit it up in junior, but is a bit undersized, so needs to get stronger and put on weight. Doing decent as a rookie in the AHL, but he might be a few years away from the NHL, although not a sure lock. Nashville drafted him in the 3rd round a few years back.

You are correct. For some reason I thought he got a 2 or 3 year deal from the Leafs. I think it was because the Bruins and Canucks were offering 2 or 3 year deals at $800/yr, and Leafs came in at $1.5M for one.

He's pretty versatile and under-rated. If the Preds can re-sign him, that would be pretty good.
 
A couple weeks ago it was reported that the Leafs were looking for a second round pick for Franson, so by adding Santorelli they bump the pick to a first and get an undersized winger who likes to hit people and has 36 points in 47 games in his first AHL season thus far. He had some very impressive numbers in junior playing for Portland.
