Bell: Drunk Driving and 'Hit and Run' charges

Bouwmeester: Drunk Driving

Staal's: Public Drunkedness...

I'd say that the Mark Bell situation has been handled very well.

I'd have to agree with Frank on this one Ern.. Due inpart to the severity of the charges against Bell. No offence.

I'm not saying Bouwmeester or Staals deserve 15 games... but surely they deserve something.

Jay Bouwmeester drank and drove. He didn't cause any damage but he sure as well could have. He deserves a minor suspension.... 3-4-5 games or so. I mean, drinking and driving for jebus sake.

Eh. So, the message the league should be sending is 'Drunk driving is OK, as long as you don't hit anything."? Garbage. If Bell gets 15 (which he completely deserved), J-Bo deserves 5. The Staals deserve a long lecture about what idiots they are. Preferably delivered by their mother, in front of their friends.

No, the message is that drinking and driving whether you hit someone else or not will result in ramifications. If you do hit someone and you run then the ramifications will be greater.

Bouwmeester should get suspended as well. I would even suggest that he get just as many games as Bell even though there are no hit and run charges. I say this as Bell easily could've received a greater suspension, but he's handled everything respectfully and very well. This suspension is all for formality sake as well as to send a message to the rest of the league and fans.

Staal - he didn't do anything other than be a public nuisance. Slap on the wrist will do. (Hate to say it, but since he's a star player then I think that will play as a factor ;) )

Good on the NHL for coming down on him with 15 games. I personally would have liked to have seen a caning, but we live in a civilized part of the world. The NHL needs to send the message out that this behaviour isn't tolerated in society, nor is it tolerated in the NHL. You represent your team AND your league, here's your timeout for being stupid.

Bouwmeester and the Staal boys need some comeuppance as well.
