limited rookie redemptions

I opened 2 boxes of 12/13 panini limited and recieved 2 rookie redemptions cards for Montreal and Ottawa.
Since there are no new rookie cards being produced for this year---are these for next year with the possibility of getting Galchenchuk or Gallager for the habs??

It's a bit confusing because UD came out at the beginning of the season after the lockout and said that no new rookies would be included in this years sets but then a coupl eof weeks ago posted that redemptions in Artifacts would be rookies from the 12-13 season. I assume Panini is following suit.

So as far as I can tell, yes, they could very well be for the players you listed.

Are previous years artifacts rookie redemptions considered XRCs?

No, I was thinking some more of what BAP was doing. Artifacts RCs are true rookies

Yeah, the best guess would be xRCs like BAP used to have. But nobody really knows and UD have said they aren't announcing anything further until June/July.

I guess there's always the possibility they use secondary rookies that nobody really wants but retains legit RC status that also doesn't mess with next year's massive rookie class, or maybe some other form of rookie year card from players from the 12/13 class.

Getting an actual/true RC from guys debuting in the NHL this year doesn't seem like the best bet though, but nobody really knows.

If they aren't legitimate RCs for the redemption cards there is going to be some significant hobby fallout. I know one individual who puts the Artifact set together each year and he has already spent significant money on the 12/13 Rookie Redemptions.
