Verified Trader,
Checking my player collection wantlists I noticed I have the same card missing from three of my players (Mogilny, Bicek, Kidd): 2001-02 Pacific Arena Exclusives. Would be nice to know if the /50 numbered parallel exists of the whole set or only some players. I've seen some unnumbered cards also, maybe from the Pacific bankruptcy sale stock.
Beckett site describes the set:
"Produced by Pacific as arena giveaways, this 444-card set (there should be 443 base + double player cards) paralleled the base set except for a silver foiled "Arena Exclusive" stamp and serial numbering to just 50 each on the card front. There is little known about the actual distribution of these cards, and their scarcity makes them difficult to price."
Got this info from a guy that knows Hurricanes oddballs quite well:
"I don't have a checklist. I was told that they did 3 players per team and the cards were all numbered to #/50. The Lemieux cards that are 1/1's must have been a sample. If you search ebay you will see all the other cards that are Arena Exclusives are #/50. They were sold to teams with the intention of putting them in plaques with name plates to sell for like $20-$25."
From an ebay item description:
"There were produced by Pacific for exclusive sale at Hockey Arenas but were not distributed for one reason or another to some arena's or if at all. They are the exact same as the regular 2000 Pacific card set except they are Sliver foil stamped "Arena Exclusive Pacific Trading Cards" and were sequentially serial numbered on the front in gold foil xx/50. From what I understand, only three (3) players from each team were produced (not the entire 444 card set). The card sets were then offered by the distributor to dealers who would purchase matching serial numbered three card sets. Since they were not pack inserts, they are a tough card to acquire for the master player set collector. Several of these cards appear online but it is usually the same few players. Being a San Jose Sharks fan, I picked up several San Jose Sharks sets. The three Sharks players chosen were Evgeni Nabokov #340 , Teemu Selanne #344 and Brad Stuart #345."
I'm leaning towards the latter info, not Beckett. Here's a quickly made list of the cards confirmed seen, being for sale or sold as individually numbered to 50. If you have or know more about these let me know and I'll update the list!
