I bid on this last night before bed and woke up to find this?

I have to laugh, even though I lost, why the heck not just put your top bid in? Sometimes I have a last minute change of heart and top my max bid by 10 or 20 bucks, but this many bids at those amounts? Just found it amusing........

I agree why not just put one max. bid ,I started to count how many times he bid & said forget it,lol, must of wanted it for the patch...Dunno

That sort of bidding concerns me - could be shill bidding, but it doesn't look like it in this case... maybe he was just bored and kept bidding every few cents to see where it would end up??? lol... maybe he has OCD with bidding like you have with Rob Blake and I have with SPx! hehe...

someone was bored...i thought you had a to increase your next bid by more then a penny? Crazy stuff at any rate thanks for the giggle Barrie...jason

Yes, that has me confused as well... I didn't even think that what that person did was possible!

That guy was the high bidder at the time he placed the $0.01 increment bids. When you are the high bidder, then you can place another bid for any amount more. It's only when someone else is leading that you are forced to place the minimum eBay increment.

I believe what he was trying to do (at the time) was make it seem to propsective bidders that he had such a ridiculously high bid in... so they wouldn't bother bidding. I guess he wasn't anticipating Barrie and the other bidders coming over the top.

I was dumbfounded before I ready your reply. Jay's on the money here. The only way Desert.... could have bumped his bid by $.01 so many times if he were already the high bidder. My guess is he figured his multiple high bids would scare off some other bidders. Either that or the guy was stoned out of his mind. :p Mike

Jay, thanks for the insight about the bid increments. :)

Now I'll have to agree with Mike and figure homeboy was ****ing on phattie blunt at the time!

When ebay was exciting and new you would see a "friend" of a bidder become the high bidder on the auction and bid up a few cents at a time to make the auction a "Hot Auction". I believe you had to hit 30 bids for the auction to be considered hot.
