Looking for feedback from members

I am looking to see if I can get some feedback from the members here on HI. This is in regards to low-mid end cards only. Finding it harder these days to just trade low-mid for low-mid end cards with people. Want to see what is working for other folks here.

Sell versus trade? I love trading, but find that when I sell I am able to actually buy the cards I want versus just trying to pick cards from someone's inventory to complete a trade.

Sell on forums, or eBay or COMC? Which has been more successful for you and why? Selling on forums, does it work ok for low-mid end cards or just high-end cards? Seems like most people just sell/buy high end cards to me. Is this a wrong assumption?

I am not looking to make money on selling cards by any means. I buy wax and open it because it is what I enjoy doing with this hobby. I love to collect my favorite teams so being able to move non PC cards and trade/purchase PC cards is also what I enjoy. Just wondering how everyone else has had the most success at doing the same.

I have stopped trading/selling low mid end cards all together, its just to hard nowadays and the aggrivation on trying to put together a deal that isnt worth much more than shipping is not worth it, granted sometimes a deal is able to be completed but over all I dont use the forums to trade or sell low- mid end cards, I go straight to ebay aucitons. for high end cards or cards that cost more than 10$ when I am buying, I can be extremely patient with what I want to pay. also the shipping rate out of the USA hurts alot of low end trading across boarders, as US memebers sometimes want to make up the trade with a little extra to cover shipping, which is fine but has hurt the cross boarder deals on the forums

COMC all the way. I send them in a few hundred (700) last time and list them to sell. Then I buy the cards that fit my PC!!! Sold a few hundred in the last couple of months and bought 50 or so nice cards that fit! Best part, no hassle. They scan, ship, it's easy!!! I also like to buy 10 cards all from different sellers and only pay 3 bucks shipping. Taking off shipping saves a tonne and even let's me pay a little more and still save!!! I know I sound like an infomercial but I really like COMC!!!

I agree with chefjason. Cross border deals especially low end deals are just not worth pulling off due to the high cost of shipping. Personally, I'd rather trade with U.S. members for low/mid grade stuff just cause it is easier an more cost effective. However, you have to find someone who wants your lower end stuff in return. He also points out the aggravating part (at least for me) people will try to go BV on alot of those deals, i.e my BV is $5 vs. yours is $3....realistically, both cards are probbaly equally worthless. If I really want to sell a card, I will put it on Ebay. However, placing it on a forum first never hurts. I will caveat that by saying that Bossy22 is correct about selling lower value cards on COMC. I don't even bother selling the lower value stuff on Ebay...too many fees.

This ... 100% this. Although I'll be much happier when they get their whole catalog fiasco sorted out. I'm just hoping this doesn't put a serious hurt on the traction that it seemed like they were starting to get. Go there today and do a site search for "Malkin" and you'll see what I mean.

I have had luck doing bulk low end deals on the forums. Ie 100 cards bv 200 for a couple bigger cards etc. i still avoid ebay if i can but started up using sportlots again

So if I send them 100 cards, it will cost me $25 plus the cost of shipping them the cards. Do you guys have success with these low end cards actually selling? My fear is that I send 100 cards and only a few sell for under $25 total and I am now out money on the deal.

Yes, your pricing above is correct. I haven't sent them more than a handful of cards that book more than $25 - just about everything I've sent sells for less than $5 ... so my experience with them has been almost exclusively low dollar cards.

My first shipment to them was in August of last year (so cards actually became available to sell on their site around early October). So in about 7 months of selling time I've listed about 1,650 cards with about 470 sold to date totaling $885 in sales. My listing costs to date have been about $375.

You would have to decide if that kind of "profit" for selling low dollar cards is worth it to you. Also keep in mind that you can use the money to buy cards you want from their site, but if you want the money they take another cut before they send it to you.

Does anyone know anything about Collector Revolution website? From first look it seems as though the only fees are 5% on anything sold over $5. No listing fees or anything. Other than maybe there not being a lot of traffic to the site, seems like a decent deal. Any feedback from anyone who has experience with this site would be appreciated.

Some cards we are surprised what they sell for. We have had no bad experiences as of yet. This is in just over 1 year, sales have definitely slowed with the catalog fiasco but I expect them to pick up.

They will ship them back to you anytime you want, however it isn't free. COMC counts on making at least 50 cents on every card that gets listed. 25 cents is from your initial listing fee - the other 25 cents in theory comes from the buyer (if you list a card for $1, the buyer actually sees a price of $1.25 for it when they buy it. If you ask for the card to be returned they still want that extra 25 cents per card, so in reality to have 4 cards returned to you, you would actually pay $4 ($3 for the unlimited postage fee and 25 cents per card for each of the four cards for another $1).

That is honestly one of the downfalls of the offering - so in reality if you're looking to list cards there you have to be committed to leaving them there for the long haul. If you get to the point where you don't want to pay the $.01 monthly fee anymore you simply need to get your asking price down to 75 cents, at which point the monthly fee is no longer assessed.

The way I figure it, if the card is cheap enough I'll eat any profits and have it listed for 75 cents forever - if it's high-end enough that I don't want to pay fees and don't want to "give it away" then it's worth it to pay the extra 25 cents to get it back.
