Pretty sure it is going to be a lockout and not a strike - either way, yes, I am not listing anything until there is postal certainty - I have 6 listings ending tomorrow that I'll ship immediately and then I am done for now

Back when the last rotating strikes were on I was to send a package to a person in Sask. and because of it possibly not arriving on time.He wanted it sent by fed-x .So I got a price on both.For a 000 size mailer it would have cost me $16.00 with Canada post and 3 day delivery.With Fed-x it cost me $58 and change for the same 3 day service. Now I do not have a business account so I am sure for those that do it would have been much cheaper.But I am sure not everyone selling a few cards here on HI and eBay have a business account with Fed-x . So as much as we all have our problems with Canada Post and their service.We better hope that it is not a long strike because if it is than for a lot of people it may spell an end or at least a major slow down on selling cards.I am almost 100% sure that there is no service with any courier company that you can send a bubble mail from Halifax to Vancouver for a couple bucks. And when you deal with the volume of mail that they deal with and for what few errors they make I still believe it is one of the best deals on the planet. Just my opinion of course.

if I remember correctly, it took a long time to get everything.
I also don't think they can simply shut off the mail as a whole, people still need to receive bills and correspondence.
They went on a rolling distribution. I'm pretty sure for awhile I was getting mail once a week

Not at all, I still think they are the best option especially for us in the hobby. What I don't understand (being a union member myself) is a strike. As a member it takes forever to make back what you lost. Strike pay is not good at all.
I doubt they will lose any of the general public business such as us, but the businesses who ship a lot of parcels will look elsewhere and likely not come back and from what I understand that is the part of the business that is generating the profit now. It is not going to generate new business and therefore will likely cost them more jobs.
I know in my area they have phased out door to door and the staff in my local post office was cut. Of course as always with strikes and agreements like this they say it is for the future of their employees but it is likely at the cost of those employees with the least seniority. The money has to come from somewhere.

Not sure if you guys saw my last post but from the news...this is not a strike!
Canada Post will be locking out their employees because they were unable to come up with a new contract.

This may keep me from buying for a little while. These long shipping times may do some good on my wallet. I'll wait for my incoming purchases then hold tight for now

I think it was just the carriers that were on strike iirc. Postal outlets were open.
