Lost card found ??help

Hi
Like around 1year and half my brother made a trade with something and the package never showed up, the odd part of the trade was my bro never got his end of the deal, very odd as I was with him when he shipped and today I was on eBay , just looking around and I noted that card pop up as its numbered so I show it to my bro and he looked for the old scan of the card that he had on his pc, same card as the numbers match.
Now the weird part is that card was shipped out in Toronto and eBay seller is also from Toronto !
My bro asked me what to do and I don't know what to do as something like this never happened to me,
So what should he do?

So when your brother made the trade, the cards he sent never arrived, and the cards he was supposed to get never arrived either. And now the card he sent out is on ebay? Well either the card he sent actually did arrive and the guy was lying, or it ended up in somebody elses hands (stolen, sent to the wrong house etc) and now the guy is selling it.

Not really sure what you could do, I don't think the ebay seller would believe you if you told him the story, and I doubt he'd just give the card back. If you could prove you made the trade maybe? Tough to say
