Flames' second-rounder in 2001 Andrei Taratukhin has also handed in his resignation with his old team and is expected to be at camp this summer. He played with Malkin last year at the World Championships I do believe.

Hmmmmm.....a young, shifty playmaking centre perhaps fitting in nicely with a certain Jarome Iginla on one wing and a certain Alex Tanguay on the other. Can you say 'hobby potential'?

Thats a pipe dream ;) For now anyways...

I seriously doubt the guy gets thrust into 1st line duty. Having said that, the Flames are very thin up front so it could happen.

Sure it's a long shot as he's still very unproven. However, to qualify for the 1st line center job in Calgary all you have to do is skate and pass better than Daymond Langkow.

It's not as much of a pipe dream as you might think. :)

Very nice word spamming! ;)

I like how you Flames fans have to always bring this Taratukhin fellow up whenever Malkin is mentioned! LOL!

Anyways, Taratukhin if he does in fact show up at the Flames camp. He could be a valuable addition to the roster.

The only way he can show up is if Sutter gets a contract signed with him. According to our paper, he can't even go to Calgary unless a deal is signed. Sutter said they are working on it, but nothing has been done yet. And whether it's just to sound good to the Russians or not, they don't sound real hyper about getting him signed either. If it happens it happens is pretty much the way he put it. So having him pencilled in any spot yet is a long shot.

Was spot on....

From the usual source.... TSN.CA

Calgary Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter announced the signing of forward Andrei Taratukhin to a two-year entry level contract on Tuesday.

Terms were not released.

I think I'll have to go have a look see at nhlpa.com to see what the Flames gave him.. That is if the PA still publishes the salaries on-line. ;)
