magnetic cases

does anyone know if theres a polish or buffer wheel for a pedestal grinder that would make these cases appear clear again?? the 130pt cases,that if u rub them together they get all scratched and your card looks crappy due to the case

I don't know about the polishing stuff, but I'd suggest you get a package of resealable graded card sleeves. You put the magenetic cases inside the graded card sleeves and they won't get scratched. It acts like a team bag for a top loader.

I usually just slip on a team bag and don't seal them, does the same trick if you don't seal them height wise.

went into local canadian tire store and asked if they had anything to polish plastic,guy told me i could prolly just buy more cases at a card shop......well,where else did he think i bought them to begin with?? if i have a case in my hand,im pretty sure i know where to buy them

Not trying to play devil's advocate here, but I rarely buy those magnetic cases. THey usually come in through trades or ebay. Also, to go along with this, maybe that's why he suggested going to a card store - he thought that because you didn't know where to get them, you instead were trying to make do by polishing up old ones?

Back to the question, is the case actually scratched, or is it just an appearance and more of some residue that's rubben into the case? Because a scratch is a scratch IMO..

I highly doubt there is anything affordable to give plastic a decent finish. Like others have said either seal them in graded sleeves or use team bags to keep them clean. I do this for all my cards and it looks great plus you don't have to worry about the case ever popping open

yea they are scratched,due to shuffeling them like cards when i first got them,and put cards in them(yea dumb move on my part)

i just use them for low #'d cards to keep better protection and i havent got around to making a display case to hold them in


and hextall,i just remember about 14-15 yrs ago when i was in public school doing clear plastic projects(for shop class) and buffing them up,thats why i figured there would be something out there

I am not sure if it would work or not.But you can a buffing kit for redoing the covers on the headlights of the family car.These are sold at most if not automotive stores.It does a pretty good job but certainly not a perfect job.It is just much easier to protect them from day one with a team bag.Good luck with that.Thanks,Winston.

Yeah if they're scratched up, then just replace them. If it's an issue of them just being blurry or maybe having some price tag residue on them, I hear nail polish remover works. A dealer said I could try Windex, but don't bother there - it doesn't work.

There's nothing you can do about the scratches. Replacing them is your only option.

If you do replace them, put them in team bags and store them in foldable card box. The boxes are like $3-4 at your local hobby shop and about another $4 for a pouch of team bags. You should be able to store about 50 or so patches in each box using this method.

Good points. That's also what I do. Any cards that I have in one-touch holders are in team bags/graded card sleeves. That way when they touch each other if they're in the same box, they won't scratch each other up.
