Mail across the border - Taking like forever..

I didn't want to start ANOTHER Ebay thread. So I thought I might pop a question in here.

A Ebay purchaser is giving me a bit of a difficult time about the arrival of his cards. They were shipped THREE WEEKS ago. He said, "we'll see what happens next week and go from there..." He's pretty worried. I'm not, knowing how shipping to/from Canada goes.

So how long is "typical" before one should open up a Ebay/Paypal claim? Just curious... thanks!
 
i know mail has been taking a while coming from across border ,i tell my customers to give me at least 3 weeks (business days ) before starting a claim so the wait would actually be 21 business days not counting weekends ,hope this helps a little

I have the same problem except with a buyer from the states. I sent Feb 25th and on Mar 8th he started a non-receipt claim saying that he's never had a package take "this long" coming from Canada. I told him that typically it takes 14-21 business days to get there and he simply replied "I should have my card by now." I decided to wait the week that eBay gives before the buyer can escalate and I haven't heard anything from him since so tonight I will call eBay support and see what they could do for me.
 
I've noticed packages are taking longer to get from the U.S. to Canada in the last few months. I've been patient with the sellers/traders because I realize the holdup is usually due to customs and not slow shipping on their part. For example, one package from New York was stamped Feb. 8 and it only arrived here in New Brunswick (on the same coast) on March 10.
 
Thanks guys --- appreciate it. I've waited in excess of six weeks before. I've heard horror stories of longer waits than that. Thanks again.
 
Cross-border mail is always slow, but this time of year is the worst. I'd guess that they're working extremely short - fiscal year ends soon, and the employees are likely getting the "use them or lose them" message for vacation days.
 
The last 3 cards I have bought from the US have all taken over 4 weeks to arrive. Two have arrived, and I'm still waiting on one, but I'm sure it will show. I'll start to worry more at about the 5 1/2 week mark.
 
I've also been waiting since Feb 16th for registered from the US via USPS. Just had the seller check the tracking for me and they just cleared customs on the 11th of Mar. HOPEFULLY they are here this week.
 
I buy alot from the US and it usually doesn't take more than 10 days to arrive. I would never start an ebay claim though until the claim period is almost up, unless of course you see a bunch of negative feedback hitting the seller after your purchase. That's 45 days isn't it?

Yup it's 45 days. For an international transaction i always give it at least 30 days before i message the seller asking for an update. I just wish others would have the same type of patience. eBay gives you 45 days for a reason.

Heck yah. the vacation time at my job has been unreal. My mom works at the post office and they are fighting over who gets to take what days off. Staffing is pretty tough this time of year so that can't help.

I sent a bday present to my friend in California and it has been 3+ weeks and he still hasn't got it. Usually takes 10 days for anything I send him.
 
I've had a few items I've bought from the states take forever as well. None high end. One seller I was dealing with actully had qa few of his cards to Canada returned for not having the customs sticker on the evalopes. I'm starting to think that customs is starting to hold up the packages as well.
 
I've been waiting for a card from Germany for about 4 weeks now. I had to start a claim with ebay because it had been closing on the timeline on which to do so.
 
I just got a card yesterday from ebay, took a full month to go from the states to canada and that's based on the sellers shipping date on the envelope. Gotta be patient these days
 
Yeah I am still waiting on a couple packages from Canada. Going on the 4 week mark one of them. So hopefully its just slow, but it is getting a little frustrating.

Yep it's just a rough time for the border right now. I've been waiting for various items...
Shipped 2/18 - eBay
Shipped 2/19 - trade
Shipped 2/23 - trade
Shipped 2/25 - SportLots
Shipped 2/28 x2 - trade/eBay

It's just slow going right now. I'm confident all of it will show up, but it's annoying having to wait...I got some Show & Tell days in the bank! LOL

That said, even some orders within Canada are taking their sweet time.
