Hei,

Thanks for checking out my first mailpost on HI!

This is a post featuring items I have picked up for my personal collection in the last little while, as well as transactions I have completed here on HI. I will be posting my traders that I have picked up in another thread soon. Enjoy!

Unless stated otherwise, everything is available FS/FT.

* Martin Hohenberger - 1995 Signature Rookies Autograph (#/4500)
* Mike McBain - 1995 Signature Rookies Autograph (#/4500)
* Mark McArthur - 1995 Signature Rookie Signature (#/7750)

These first three singles came from JTMcCool as a freebie! Brian is a cool guy, as his handle indicates. I love the freebies, no matter whether they are base, low-end inserts, or one of my three stars (keep reading, you'll see what I mean). The coolest thing about the first two cards is that they don't seem to be listed on Beckett's OPG! I like oddball items! Thanks again Brian! :)

In case you are wondering who these guys are, Hohenberger was drafted by the Canadiens and came VERY close to being the first Austrian ever to play in the NHL. He didn't quite make the cut, and returned home where he still plays, at least he was last time I checked. The first Austrian-born player to ever suit up in an NHL game was Reinhard Divis, who played many years later.

McBain was a second round draft pick of the Lightning and actually played a couple seasons in the NHL. He also played for the Detroit Vipers (Andy, you want this?) ;) and bounced around a bit in the minors. I believe he is now retired.

* Corey Perry - 2005-06 Ultimate Collection Ultimate Patches (#/75)

This beauty was picked up in a deal with sabres11. Thanks a lot Ilhan! You rock! I can part with this card, but it will be tough to get off me.

IMG_0015.jpg

* Mikael Tellqvist - 2003-04 BAP Memorabilia Emerald (#/10)
* Corey Locke - ITG H&P assorted base

I acquired these in a trade with rhynorat. The Tellqvist was the main focus of the deal but when I mentioned I collect Corey Locke cards, Ryan threw those base in for free. This isn't the last you'll see of my mail from Ryan. He is a very awesome fella!

* Wayne Gretzky, Ray Bourque - 2001-02 SP Authentic (#/3500)
* Marian Gaborik - 2005-06 SP Game Used Gold (#/100)
* Ryan Whitney/Brian Leetch - 2005-06 UD Rookie Update (#/999)
* Dustin Brown - 2005-06 SP Authentic Sign of the Times

IMG_0006.jpg

* Alex Tanguay - 1999-00 SP Authentic Sign of the Times
* Steve Rucchin - 1998-99 BAP Autographs
* Alex Tanguay - 2002-03 Upper Deck Pinpoint Accuracy

These cards all came in a trade with sgazi. He threw in the Rucchin for free for hooking him up with some Belfour cards. I love all UWO alum! sgazi can use all your Belfour cards. Keep him in mind when you pull any nice Belfours.

* Eric Lindros - 1998-99 Pacific Omega Red
* Kenny Jonsson, Mike Johnson, Nelson Emerson, Bryan Berard - 1998-99 Pacific Omega Opening Day (#/56)

I've been building these sets for some time now and these were much needed additions. Nelson Emerson is a local product, he grew up in Waterford, Ontario, where I grew up and went to high school.

IMG_0003.jpg

* Olaf Kolzig, Bill Guerin, Brian Bellows, Mike Ricci, Matt Herr, Rob Niedermayer - 1998-99 Pacific Omega Opening Day (#/56)

All these cards came from my friend Stephane (eBay id - kilga) for my sets. These sets are pretty tough to assemble as most of the cards are not circulating on the secondary market. I love Kolzig and I am most thrilled to pick up his card from this set.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

IMG_0004.jpg

* Adam Graves, Antti Aalto/Johan Davidsson, Jamie Wright/Sergey Guzev - 1998-99 Pacific Omega Opening Day (#/56)
* Alexei Morozov - 1997-98 Black Diamond Premium Cut Quadruple Diamond Horizontal

These were all eBay pickups for my sets. The Black Diamond set is very hard to find and is one of the most under-valued sets in the hobby.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

IMG_0008.jpg

* Lauri Tukonen, Ville Koistinen - 2007-08 O-Pee-Chee Micromotion

Black (#/100)
* J-F Damphousse - 2002-03 Between the Pipes Gold (#/10)
* Kari Haakana - 2002-03 Parkhurst Gold (#/10)
* "Petr Sykora" - 2002-03 Pacific Complete Red (#/99)
* Teemu Elomo - 1998-99 UD Choice Prime Choice Reserve (#/100)

The Finnish players are tougher to find cards for my various subsets.

The Damphousse is for my Damphousse player collection. He was a netminder for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and I have loved him since. It is his rarest card. Definately a nice one to check off the wantlist!

On a humourous note, the "Sykora" card actually depicts teammate Stanislav Chistov, whom I am also very fond of for being a former Cincinnati Mighty Ducks forward.

* Title card, Sergei Zubov, Mike Ribeiro, Brenden Morrow, Marty Turco, Jere Lehtinen - 2007-08 Upper Deck Dallas Stars Team Issue Set

This set was distributed at Stars games this season. Complete sets were available in packages. I may break this set for trade. I will likely keep the Lehtinen for now and Kritter47 has first shot at the Morrow if she even needs it.

This was part of a "care package" sent to me by my friend Karin in Texas. I'm a Stars fan and she sympathizes that I cannot get any Stars stuff up here in Canada. So, she'll send me some neat stuff now and then. This time, she sent these cards, some t-shirts, bobbleheads, a calendar, and a couple odds and ends. Thanks Karin! Love ya babe! :)

* Johan Davidsson - 1997-98 HIFK Calendar (April 1998), 2000-01 BAP Memorabilia Emerald (#/10)

Two VERY RARE pickups for my Johan Davidsson collection. Yet another former Cincinnati Mighty Ducks player whom I collect. The HIFK card is really neat. I got it from a seller in Finland. On the opposite side, it is laid out like a standard monthly calendar and all of HIFK's games are marked for the month of April. This unique collectible was created by a company called AdBox to use as a team giveaway, I believe. As a cool perk on the BAP Emerald, it is numbered #01/10! First one! Score!

I love the BAP Emeralds. From all years and all players, as you will see in my other mailpost (when it gets done).

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

IMG_0011.jpg

* Joe Thornton - 1997-98 Black Diamond Premium Cut
* Teemu Selanne, Brenden Shanahan - 1997-98 Black Diamond Premium Cut Triple Diamond
* Martin Gerber - 2007-08 Between the Pipes Game Used Emblem (/10), Jersey/Autograph (#/10)

More cards for my various collections. However, I may move the Gerbers for the right offer.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

IMG_0009.jpg

* Martin Broduer, Alex Tanguay, Martin Havlat - 2001-02 SP Authentic (#/3500)
* Mike Matteucci - 2001-02 Sp Authentic RC (#/900)
* Joe Thornton, Teemu Selanne - 2001-02 SP Authentic Limited (#/150)

Even more cards for my sets. I love the design of this set. It's sharp and clean and the rookies look fantastic.

IMG_0010.jpg

* Kevin Sawyer, Mark Parrish - 2001-02 SP Authentic Limited Gold (#/25)

Two more for the sets. This parallel is one of the hardest to find out there. Seldom are they found on the secondary market, and when they are out there, the odds aren't good that it will be a player you collect.

On another note, Kevin Sawyer is a Cincinnati Mighty Ducks alumnus. He could really throw them. It's too bad he isn't playing professional hockey anymore.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

IMG_0024.jpg

* Antti Miettinen - 2003-04 Parkhurst Rookie Rookie Jerseys Gold (/10), 2003-03 Parkhurst Rookie RC Auto/Jersey (#/100)

I have been hunting for reasonably priced versions of these cards since they were released, and I nailed them both within a short span of each other. I was lucky that the Parkhurst RC is also numbered #20/100. Miettinen's jersey number! :)

Now, onto the *** THREE STARS *** !!!

*** Corey Locke - 2004-05 ITG Heroes & Prospects Emblems Gold (/10)

A very rare pick up for my Corey Locke collection. Nice swatch too!

GO BULLDOGS!

** Martti Jarventie - 2001-02 SP Authentic (#/900)

A nice pickup for my 01-02 SP Authentic set. But I bet you are asking, 'how is this better than all the much rarer cards you've already posted?'

One word for you ... PHOTOMATCH!

IMG_0018.jpg

IMG_0017.jpg

** Martti Jarventie Game Used Montreal Canadiens Stick!

Not only is it cool that I am able to photomatch it on a card, but since Martti only played one NHL game and one season in the AHL before heading back to Finland, there is a very good chance that this is the only stick he may have used in North America! w00t!

One

So, what could possibly top a photomatched GU stick?

* - Corey Locke - 2006-07 ITG Heroes & Prospects Game-Used Number Gold (/10)

This was sent to me FOR FREE from rhynorat and was the item I was alluding to earlier. I am VERY appreciative of you sending me this Ryan, you truly rocked my socks! Thanks again so much!

Well, that's it!

I hope you enjoyed my first HI mailpost and that it is the first of many to come!

If you're interested in something I have please message me. Especially for the lower-end stuff, all I would be looking for is something similar to replace it on my tradelist.

Kippis!

Impressive. Your first mail post here, but we know better than that -- you're a seasoned vet!

I think I've probably already got one of those McBain autos, but if not -- heck, I'll check next time you and I talk trades, whenever I pick something up you need at some point.

Great job on all the tough parallels. My favorites are the Omega #/56s.

Great mailpost! Very glad to see that you enjoyed the freebies. Nice to see a Rucchin auto in there too. He always went to GT's in London even though it was mainly a college bar and he was in his 30s and an NHLer. Probably should pick up an auto of his too. Anyways, thanks for sharing.

Nice additions. 1998-99 Pacific Omega Opening Day (#/56) are really hard to find.. Still looking Tikkanen to my pc (will pay huge dollar for it) ;)

Thank you Andy. I wouldn't call myself a seasoned vet, but I guess it takes one to know one.

I'm sure we'll talk soon enough. You always have a plethora of goodies I like. Haha.

Really? I did not know that. That is really cool. I love him coz he's a Western guy. I just absolutely love that school. The campus, the food, the library...the girls! ;)

Impressive mail post, if it's available I could use that Turco Lucky Shot card. PM me if it is please.
Thanks! I think we may be able to work something out :)

Hei Mika. Kiitos! :)

I am ashamed to say that my collection also lacks that Tikkanen card. I did see one come up on eBay once, but it went for well over book value.

If I happen to see two copies somewhere, I'll snatch them both up and send one to you!

Näkemiin!

Thanks to all for the great comments!

Awesome stuff. Congrats on tracking down all those tough parallels, I know how hard it can be. I'll look around for some Omega /56. I think I might have a couple lying around.

Thank you Cole! I would appreciate it!

Wow! What a great first mail thread. Nice additions. Mike
Thanks Mike! :)

You know Karin too?

I got a care package from her that included the same Stars cards. Thanks for the thought! Very nice haul.

Hey Erin!

Of course! Everyone on the UDSMB knows Karin! I haven't posted on the boards in ages, but I do keep in touch with her via Facebook.

Great to see you around, btw!

Holy Smokes! What a haul! Thanks for the show.
Thank you for the lovely comment!

Beautiful mail post. Always great to see someone collect rare parallel sets, which no one else dares to collect, lol.

Keep up the excellent work!

- Sauli
Kiitos Sauli!

Something about them being rare and tough to find makes me want them more! Haha.

Thanks again!

Kippis!
