I seriously had no idea what to call this thread, there's tangents splitting off of sidenotes and word salad buried in subtexts so......... ya know?
A lot of the cards pictured below are because of HI members, so big thanks to each and every one of you!
About five weeks ago my daughter was hospitalized. I pretty much shut down - work, hospital, four hours of sleep and repeat every day. eBay, my "job" at SCF, the entire hobby was soooooo unimportant. She spent 12 days in there and she's still not fully recovered. And then MY health started going. Funny how not visiting a doctor for seven years will nail you in about two week hahahaa.
Turns out my blood pressure is through the roof. Poor diet, smoking etc.
Mmmmmmmmm salad. And hockey cards. I had to play catch-up right???
Anyways, maybe a week before Bailey got admitted, I got a PM from Kim (pucku2cards) about a card that I've been chasing for over a year. More about that at the end.
Being a player-collector is the FUNNEST!!! I get to over-pay for the 1st auction on eBay even though I know another one will pop up tomorrow. I get PM's from people wanting insane $$$ because I'm the player-collector. I get to deal with whack-a-doo BINs. I come to grips with the fact that if a Sedin or Linden share a card with my player then chances are I won't be owning that card. I know where you live, you dirty birds :devil:
On the other hand, there are the people who PM you at 5AM to tell you there's a 1/1 shield on SCD for $100. Or tweet you about the NT print plates on COMC.
Or just give you stuff................

And the 2nd-to-last card I needed to complete my UD Premier collection. I WILL over-pay for the other two, believe me.........
And then there was Derek (OT Cards) who helped lighten my wallet ...........
Plus a TERRIBLE box of OPC, currently sitting in the trunk of my car.

My Turco PC tripled itself in 2 weeks
Speaking of 04/05 SP Authentic, me and Paul (johnse) both collect 04/05 S Authentic. He focuses more on the SOTT's and the Rookie Reviews and I collect the buybacks and SP Limited autos. A long time ago he sent me a SOTT quad auto with Ryan Kesler on it........ just because? A couple months ago I was able to return the favor with a quad SOTT that he needed and we were EVEN. Til today, when I got this in the mail...........

I spent fifteen dollars at the Bonsor card show!!!!!
Oh yeah, one more eBay win............... $25.99 plus shipping, which all worked out to about $40 CDN, which I'd like to think is a bit of a steal............
I hadn't looked at eBay in 10 days because of the whole Bailey thing, and there it was in my "Kessler" search....... The timing was amazing, because Kim (remember her?) had PM'd me about a card that I thought I'd never own. Twice it had showed up on eBay for $300 BIN. Twice I'd offered $150 and been rejected. And then it disappeared.
Kim offered me the card plus this one.......
........ for way less than the original $300, in trade value. Problem: I have nothing to trade, my PC is my PC and the crap lying around my house is crap. So I had to go see Derek and find some stuff, which wound up being three cards which were worth more than the two Keslers, so she sent me some PayPal AND DIDN'T TAKE THE EXCHANGE RATE INTO CONSIDERATION. ON PURPOSE.
The PayPal bought me this..........
........which was the 14th and final card I needed to finish off UD Premier!
Kim's card arrived today after spending six days at Canada Customs hahaha.
Both Dominion 1/1's inside of six weeks
HUGE thanks to Kim. And Paul & Kevin & even Derek. His store is like Cheers and I'm either Cliffy or Norm, I haven't quite figured out which yet.
