Malkin to KHL

Just hope we don't have to post another one of these for this season:

i'm sure others will follow him
I've heard, Gonchar, Ovechkin, and Yakupov had plans to join the KHL. Also metioned that Kovalchuk would most likely as well. Gonchar might be joining the same team as Malkin and not sure if it was mentioned in the article, could play as early as Thursday.

From Finnish media:

Gonchar also to Magnitogorsk

Datsyuk heading to Kazan, Kovalchuk to SKA St. Peterburg

Plekanec and Jagr heading to Kladno, Czech Republic

Malkin and Gonchar went to magnitogorsk

from what I read the contracts are for the whole season but as soon as the NHL announces the lockout is over the players are free to go

Good God. Let them all stay there. This strike has no basis in any kind of reality. Millionaires fighting with Billionaires. Makes my stomach churn, yes that is the correct use of the word;) How can I have any sympathy for either side when I cant really afford to take my family to even see a game. I said it last time and I'll say it again. The Stanley Cup is a CHALLENGE CUP and should be open to any teams that want to play for it. Fire those NHLers (owners and players) and get a tournament going for Lord Stanleys Challenge Cup. I am not sure but where along the line did the Stanley Cup become property of the NHL? Thats a real question, not sarcasm.

Doug - just want to point out this is not a 'strike.' It is a lockout. There is a big difference. I just want that pointed out.

i feel bad for the guys in all these other leagues, who lose THEIR jobs because these NHLers come over and take the roster spot..

they suffer because the NHLPA and NHL are greedy asshats

Scabs, nothing but Scabs and I have no respect for them going and taking the roster spot of another because they can't sort out their problems. They must be strapped for cash and can't pay the mortgage on their small houses.

I feel for the people who work at the arena's, shops, hotel, retaurant, refs etc. Sure as fans we are upset but at least our finances are not affected.

Someone on another board said they heard that it's up to the Cup keeper(trustee's?) to decide if another team can compete for the Cup. I think this was determined after a lawsuit over the Cup during the last lockout.

Edit, found this article

That was short and to the point. I would love to see it happen. Give guys that REALLY want to play for the Cup a chance to do it. It would probably be great hockey with a load of emotion. Not just a bunch of guys hoping they can make a big payday.

Dont you greedy *******s , owners and players , dare to say- thank you fans, again, - This fan will tell you to !@#$%^&.
