Upstanding Member,
Bleh, it's almost May and I haven't gotten my March arrivals out of the way yet?
Let's get this taking care of and show anybody who cares what my mailman delivered. March was a busy month of mail - more work towards my various sets, and collections - let's get the Canuck rookies out of the way first.
From the 07-08 rookies, I manage to cross of the following two Jannik Hansen's leaving me needing a nice Hot Prospects and the new SPA Future Watch.
and I picked up the following three Mason Raymonds - leaving the the HP and SPA FW as cards to still be picked up.
From the only deadline deal the Canucks made, here's a number of Matt Pettinger cards. I'm still looking for the SP Authentic rookie of his.
From the depths of "Hey, wait who's the Canucks backup?", here's a couple of harder to find Curtis Sanford cards, both out of /99.- I'm still looking for the BAP All-Star /100 to complete his rookie cards.
And of the other rookies cards March delivered, here's one I picked up just in case he ever got called up to the Canucks, the last RC I needed of Greg Classen. Sadly, he played the season with the Moose, and as a UFA, I don't think he'll be in the orginization next season.
That completes my Canuck RC pick ups for March, let's move on to my sets.
For My 00/01 Premier Plus master set (so close....)
My 00/01 SPX set with all the rookies serial #'d between 0001/1500 and 0099/1500 - I'm looking to go as low serial #'d as possible - the average serial # of the 66 rookies is just under 20/1500 - so it's kinda fun to keep work on. I guess my biggest wants for this project right now are getting the following players in the 0001 to 0049 range. They are Mike Minard, Colin White, Chris Kenady, Jean-Guy Trudel and Mike Smith (shown above as 0060/1500)
And for my ongoing 03/04 Pristine set - a different swatched Thornton jersey (I also have a black with yellow thread piece)
For my 06/07 Beehive set - I picked up the following (the set will be finished in my April mailpost)
For my 06/07 Showcase set - I managed to get the following
For my Hometown Heroes continuing thread, I picked up the following
For my 07/08 Showcase set (oooh, shinies) I picked up the following
]
Onto the team collection, every year I do a set of the Game jerseys featuring the Canucks (Canuck photos and Canuck team name) and this was my most recent pick up - nothing too fancy
Okay, let's all pause as we finally get to the heart of the mail month - here's the cards for my player collections - starting with HAAAAARRRRR-OLD
I found an auction on eBay for two of these unknown Edmonton Ice Kings team issues. Neither Bruce or I, or Beckett or CSC knew these existed, so it was a great find.
I thru a bid on it knowing that if I won the lot of the two cards, that one would be headed out as a tithe payment.
For my Steve McCarthy collection, I picked up this one card because, well, why not? I didn't have one - it was cheap and heck, I didn't even know that it was a redemption.
Next up, the Gelinas finds for the month of March.
99/00 Paramount Holo Electric
03/04 Pacific Complete Red
04/05 Pacific Blue (considering these are #'d to 250, these are surprisingly hard to find)
04/05 UD All World Gold (amazingly lightly broken stuff)
05/06 UD BAP 2nd Period /50
05/06 UD BAP Autograph (I'm nearing a dozen dozen of these)
06/07 OPC Rainbow
06/07 UD Exclusive
and another of his only game-used card, 00/01 Titanium Game Used Stick
Lastly, let's close of this mega mail post with Captain Canuck, Trevor Linden.
Victor was nice enough to back off of the poorly titled eBay auction, as he knew that I considered this whale-ish, and would go crazy to overpay for this as this would almost wipe Pacific off my Linden wantlist. So thanks again, Victor.
Some Artifacts pick ups for the month
and lastly, a personalized Dice and Ice (Canuck fundraiser) promo card and one of the coolest items in my Linden collection.
Thanks for reading all the way to the bottom,
Kevin
