Well it looks Marner will be on a new team. How do you think it will affect his long term market value and popularity leaving the Leafs?

I think it's hard to leave the Leafs and see your hobby relevancy stay the same or increase, I only see his values going down

Those who only collect Leafs cards will not collect any of his cards in a new team uniform. If anyone collects anything Marner, they'll have an easier time picking up stuff. His RC stuff may see a spike from fans of his new team wanting to get his rookie year cards.
Long term, everything will stay flat or dip a bit, unless he wins some major awards and is a huge factor in the team making a deep playoff run/win the Cup.

I think both of the first two comments are valid. Cards of Leafs and the Canadiens always have a bump in the hobby ... just look at the values Michael Bunting cards over the last 5 years; not worth much, I know, but values went up while with the Leafs and have now dropped off.

I am a Mitch Marner collector ... 928 unique cards and counting. I'd really love for him to stay with the team, he makes everyone around him better. It seems like he's either headed to Vegas or LA. I've been saying LA for a few months now, but I guess we will see tomorrow. If he ended up in Montreal, Ottawa, or Boston, the PC would be only Leaf cards. For most other teams, the collection will continue for his new team.

I think an instant 25% drop, most Leaf fans won't want much to do with him. I'd like to see the Leafs sign Brock Boeser to fill the gap
I punted most of my Marner stuff last fall, except for a few key rookies. I fully expected Treliving to trade him for magic beans by the trade deadline. I expect his stuff will be down by at least half for the short term. If he plays well in Vegas, I can see his rookies regaining value.
