Masterpieces or Hot Prospects?

Hi, have two cases to choose from:

2008/09 Upper Deck Legends Masterpieces Hockey Hobby 14-Box Case

or

2005/06 Fleer Hot Prospects Hockey Hobby 12-Box Case

They are at the same price. Which one would you open and why?

Masterpieces, plenty of HOF autos and GU, some of which are numbered pretty low. In Hot Prospects, unless you hit a Crosby or AO, you will lose money.

Masterpieces for the above reasons plus the fact that HP redemptions are expired while there's a pretty good chance Masterpieces' are still good.

I'd go with Masterpiece. If you go with HP, you will cry if you hit a sick redemption because they are expired. Good luck

Masterpieces without a doubt. Redemptions being expired is a big turn off and its a crapshoot on the auto patch RCs. Not guaranteed 1 per box like 06/07 so there will be some horrible boxes in there. Masterpieces has the potential to land you some very nice HOF autos. The GU has a nice checklist as well. That set tends to have a pretty good following as far as set collectors go.

100% agree.

And if I'm correct in saying, the redemptions for MP are still live, but I do believe they expire sometime next month. At least thats what was on the redemptions I've sent in.

If you're swinging for the fences hoping for one of the big guys - go Hot Prospects.

If you want solid value for your money relative to your investment - Masterpieces. And I find Masterpieces more enjoyable on just about every level than rolling the dice with Hot Prospects

Hi, have opened about 10 boxes of Masterpieces and about 20% of GU stuff is factory damaged. Only 1 box of Hot Propects before and I must say it was horrible.

Which are the best expired redemptions in Hot Prospects?

i would go with the masterpieces some nice cards and in my op way better odds of pulling something nice for yourself, and if you pull any macinnis cards pls keep me in mind.

Im personally a fan of Masterpieces. Aside from AO and Sid RCs, I think the design of 06 HP is one of the worse ever.

definitely Masterpieces is the way to go. It's one of the few sets where the base cards are actually something you'll keep, the parallels have their collectors, the autos are amazing and the GUs arehalf decent too.

speaking of MP, anyone got some base they're willing to trade? need some for my set.
