Hey all,
I've been asking around at a couple places what would be the best Rocket Richard auto to grab for my PC. I've moved out some of my Metallica merch and have a nice little stash of PayPal in my account so I've been really thinking about getting an auto. The three most common suggestions I've had are:

Sign of the Times

Beehive 5x7

INKredibles

While it's likely a "you really can't go wrong with any of those" things, which would be the best one to get? I've heard mention that the latter was a little bit shaky in the penmanship compared to the other two.

Thoughts/opinions/advice welcomed!
 
Out of those three, I liked the Beehive one the best, and it's probably the most affordable. It may have been shaky, but the story behind it was even better. Even while he was being treated for cancer, he took his time to make sure that every card was signed, with care.
 
I have the Century Legends and the Retro - the Retro is a tad shaky, bu the Century Legends is actually pretty close to his graph from his younger days.

Of course the Beehive is a great looking (and pretty affordable) card as well.

I had the Retro auto and it was not only shaky, but the loop on the beginning of the "M" was off, so he re-traced it but ended up missing the mark, so it ended up slightly messed up in that area. Eventually, I traded it away.

I ended up getting his Score auto (from 92?) which is probably his earliest certified auto. The only negative on this one is that the sig is on the back of the card, whereas I prefer to have the auto be on the front.

I'm not a big fan of the Beehive because of it's "non-standard" card size. Although I have a few other "non-standard" Champs autos, at least these will fit into the same box with my other cards.

Definitely, the Century Legend auto is his best looking auto out there.

Not cutting in on the card (probably too expensive for me) but was just wondering what the BV is on this card and the non-gold version.
 
Golden Originals is definitely underrated because of its size.

One card I liked was the Signature Scrapbook from I believe 04-05 Ultimate Memorabilia. Last time I checked, about a month ago, there was actually someone selling the unslabbed versions of those cards and the Rocket was in the 80-90 range. I also don't really know what the authentication says on the back, although I would imagine it's the same as the Ultimate ones.
 
I was looking for a bit and I picked up this one which I am really happy with. It is numbered out of 1956 i think so it's not that rare, also the back is cardboard and not glossy like some people like.

But the auto itself is a beaut!! I love it.

I haven't seen a copy of the Topps Stanley Cup Heroes card but that was the only other one that I may have purchased over this one.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of die-cuts, refractors or anything that is meant to enhance the card. I remember at one time seeing an "ATOMIC" Mantle insert card from the early 90s and thinking that it looked like a $1 card that you get from a card dispensing machine at an arena or something. It just doesn't depict the player as well as a regular photo.

For me a "perfect" card is square, 2.5" x 3.5" with a full-body image of the player.
 
Thanks very much to everybody for all your input with this. Those Stanley Cup Heroes are definitely a sight to behold, and the others are not too shabby at all either.
 
I have the 04/05 ITG Ultimate Signature Scrabook. It's a really sharp looking card, he included his #9 on the card which is pretty cool. You can see it in my bucket under PC... I guess they signed a bunch of smaller cards for Parkhurst in the mid 90's, and they never got used in a set, so they used his and a couple other deceased players cards in the scrapbook set. There's got to be a bunch of those signatures floating around because I've noticed in a bunch of ITG products with his cut signatures, they've used the same card because you can see his legs in the picture.

Good luck on your search, as you said, you can't go wrong with any of them :)

They were from a set that Parkhurst was going to put out called "Pre-Parkies". The set never was released and ITG bought all cards from the autographed set to use in the 04-05 ITG Ultimate Signature Set (except for Gordie Howe who ITG didn't have a contract with). I believe all of those minicards are hand #'d out of 500 on the back. There is a seller on ebay who has all of the cards from the set, including Howe. They must have bought whatever ITG didn't.
