Keith, If it's legit then it may be the nicest Messier Patch I've seen. Having said that, I doubt it's legit. Every other copy of that card has had the typical Rangers Letter Patches from the front of the Home or Away Jersey. Heck, I have never seen UD use a Rangers 3rd jersey for any of his cards. If I thought it was legit, I would hsve sent in a hefty offer, but I did not... Mike

PS - It could be a shoulder patch or something, but that would also be a first....

I was going to say that it looks like a shoulder patch from the third jersey, but Mike beat me to it. If it's legit, it's pretty damn awesome.

Something isn't right about that. First of all, it's facing the right way... definitely not the usual sideways/upsidedown work of Upper Deck.

Secondly, that can't be from the main crest on the liberty jersey... too small compared to a life size jersey.

Also, I don't believe the Rangers used the liberty head on any of their shoulder patches.

I thought maybe it was from the 93/94 All Star Game, but that one doesn't have the liberty face.

That's what made me wonder... UD doesn't do patches that well. If it was an ITG product I'd believe it, but UD? No way.

I just spoke to someone who was part of The Cup pack out last year and he did not remember seeing that Messier card and it most likely would have been noticed. He also confirmed that all of the Messier cards from that set used the "regular" jersey. Not 100% but the evidence is mounting that the card is a fake. $1000 for a Messier auto and some clown's Hat. lol.

I've seen a few of these cards with all star game patches. The only way this is real is if it is from the shoulder patch Messier wore in the game.

Also, the seller has almost 11000 feedback and 100% feedback. Anyone bothered to Email him about it or just come here and accuse it of being a fake?
