Again I have to wonder, how many 18 year olds are truly ready for the speed, size, and skill of the NHL. How many "high profile" rookies like this have been injured, especially in Edmonton? I believe I said the same thing with Hall and Nugent-Hopkins, not all of these kids are ready physically for the NHL, and they shouldn't be rushed into the league because they are the next savior of a franchise. If they are that good at 18, how much better will they be when they are 20 with a few more years of seasoning and building up their bodies in junior or college or whatever?
Craig Custance of ESPN said he's got a broken collarbone on Twitter.
I think if he was 20 and went into the boards like that, he still would've broken his collarbone. Freak accident, and it's not damage to the surrounding tissue so it's not like it will cause long-term problems.

Couldn't agree more. I also add so what he destroyed the OHL and needed a new challenge, so why not the AHL against competition a year or two removed from juniors themselves or some old pros hanging onto the dream, dominate the AHL then you can talk NHL domination.
The Oilers have so many new pieces each year the old pieces never work together long enough to work properly.
This was a freak accident. It wouldn't matter if he was 18 or 40. He went hard into the boards and would have likely suffered the exact same injury. This kid has already proven he is ready for the big time. He'll come back and dominate. Just sucks for him, his team and the fans. He was only going to get better with every game
he should pay attention to what happened to Tony Romo and not rush back.
