Mcdavid values vulnerable?

Draisaitl was 2nd year player on the same team. Should I post the comparables? Drai scored big goals and factored in Oiler wins. Mcdavid was not a factor.

Determining that the line competition line 1 vs line 1 when McDavid was on the ice and line 2 vs line 2 with Draisaitl was on, the quality does drop slightly down the lines. The great thing about Edmonton was the depth of the lines to sustain or be better than the other line across them. Pairing were solid making for great games to be played. Edmonton ended up on top for the most part until Nashville came around.

I think that Edmonton will be reckoned with. His playoff stat lines only tell part of the story. I see that his # of shots wasn't included. Shoot a lot, not get a lot in, allow a few good rebounds and your points go up, allow solid shots that get covered up or the D get before your teammates and you don't...It is a lucky man's game plenty of times...inch here, inch there, too soon, too late...makes a difference for everyone playing.

As for value...his RC's are right about where they should be, his 2nd yr cards are a bit low considering that there was no sophomore slump. If he hit 100 pts again next year, expect a bump for all of his cards.

This is not a good thread.

By your logic, Carey Price cards should all be super "vulnerable" since the Habs choked in the first round of the playoffs this year and the dumb goalie didn't make enough saves in overtime.

I honestly have no idea why Carey Price cards are as High as they are. I don't need to see any more to know his cards are overpriced...McDavid I'll wait and see after next years playoff.

And no, I'm not declaring Draisaitl a better clutch performer until I see another playoffs. But chapter one is written.

If you have an McDavids you want to unload feel free to hit me up! I'll gladly weather the storm :)

Talk to me after playoffs 2018

Carey Price's cards are high (rightfully so) because he's the best technical goalie in the NHL, plus he's Canadian, plays in Montreal, has won internationally and has won hardware in the NHL, too.

How come you're not pumping Roberto Luongo's tires?

LOL You need to watch some hockey, brah.

If they hadn't been the biggest victims of bad officiating during this year's playoffs who's to say how far the Oilers might have gone. I am willing to take on the burden of your vulnerable McDavid cards. So please trade them to me. Thank you.

Lol i don't usually post very often but this thread but..... your logic is just ridiculous. Connor Mcdavid is the real deal man.If you seriously watched the playoffs they had to focus on Mcdavid more then anybody and that in turn opened up his teammates. On that note too he might have been hurt which they wont share anyways.I think im in the 99 percentile....if you want to move me your Mcdavids well i'm your huckleberry homey!!

Nobody is doubting that Mcdavid is the "real deal". My assertion is that he needs to have success in the playoffs next year or his cards will shed value...and not just a little bit.
For all those wanting my Mcdavid...wait. if he flops next year I'll contact you and quote June 2017 prices. I bet the story will change.

clearly Carey Price is above Luongo.
With one Hart and one Vezina he's now reached Jose Theodore level.
In fact, both Theodore and Carey Price poor playoff records are eerily familiar.

So let's blame Price for playing on teams that don't score in order to win? That's on management and his teammates, not him. So he's not clutch either... this is reaching the realm of Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith hot takes...

Then you're not going to get the values they are right now. If you believe McDavid is at a peak, sell high. If it comes down, and then you unload, you're selling low.

As for Draisaitl's, he's a great player. But if you want to get a better understanding of what happened in the playoffs with McDavid/Draisaitl, just look at this year's playoffs with Crosby/Malkin.

Carey Price has been a Hab for 10 years. The team has changed considerably over the years. But Carey Price is the common denominator during the team's playoff failures. It's pretty obvious Les Canadiens aren't winning a cup with Price as their goalie

First of all, just a straight LOL at "McDavid choked"

Vulnerable? Sure, but my primary concern would be injuries, not stats from a small sample size of one playoff run.

With all due respect to solid guys like Roman Hamrlik, looking at the last 3 guys who were heralded as once in a generation first overall picks, Lemieux had serious back problems and a bout with Hodgkin's disease... Lindros' career ended early due to concussions... and Crosby at one point looked like he might follow Lindros with his own concussion issues. Beyond them Stamkos has had serious leg injuries, Bryan Berard nearly lost an eye, Rick DiPietro couldn't stay healthy wearing full body armour while lying down in a padded safe room.

McJesus has already had a broken collar bone... hopefully that's it and he goes on to enjoy a healthy career so we can enjoy watching his talent - I'd be concerned that his collar bone injury came when he was skating all-out, one of his great weapons is his speed, but at that speed the abilities to avoid catastrophic collisions is hard... will he have another similar injury - or change his playing style becoming a bit more gun shy after a bad spill into the boards? I really hope not but it's always a concern.

Second, even bigger LOL at the bolded above. I literally laughed out loud at my desk at work. Thanks for that one.

Carey Price's cards are high (rightfully so) because he's the best technical goalie in the NHL, plus he's Canadian, plays in Montreal, has won internationally and has won hardware in the NHL, too.

Third, this. Have you ever watched Carey Price play hockey? He is (at least in my opinion) the most fundamentally sound goalie in the league. If anyone here has ever played goalie (like myself and Aaron above) I think you see goalies in the NHL differently than others. Carey Price gets a boost from being Canadian & playing in Montreal, but you could write a textbook on how to play goalie with how Carey Price plays the position. He deserves the credit/recognition that he receives.

PS - I'd stop worrying about McDavid. He's pretty good.

Tell that to any Habs fan... when was the last time they had a legit #1 Centre? And peak Plekanec doesn't count... since he got that job by default.

They go out and acquire Drouin - that's great, but if you still don't have a front line C, it doesn't mean a thing.

Or the fact that they've had a D corps that was anchored by Markov and Subban/Weber but not much else - it's getting older, and moving Sergachev and Beaulieu does nothing to address those issues.

But yeah, let's blame it all on Price for being the only reason why the Habs have been competitive over the last seven seasons since he took the reins directly from Halak.

Just like McDavid just couldn't get it done in the playoffs... so let's condemn him as a washout. Or blame Nathan MacKinnon on the Avs mess that really is a result of Patrick Roy and a management team that hasn't figured out how to build a team. Just like Crosby was ready to be thrown under the bus after the first two games of the final because he or the Pens were dominated everywhere except for the scoreboard.

Keep spouting your opinions all you want, the more I hear from you, the more noise I need to tune out...

As much as I thoroughly enjoy watching Montreal's playoff failures, they are HARDLY Carey Price's fault. In fact, if it wasn't for him, they wouldn't be there in the first place.

so far Carey Price is a one year regular season wonder.
In the playoffs a superstar goalie can win games and rounds on his own - yet Price has a 25-31 record with a .914 save %
You don't have to compare Canadiens to another team, just compare Carey Price regular season to playoffs. Same team.

I'd rather have Matt Murray for my playoff run
