Hello all,

I've picked up 4 gamers from Meigray, always during their summer sale. Who else would you recommend for credibility and good value?

Cheers,
Greg

I picked up a Marion Gaborik Slovakian Olympic game worn jersey and the COA comes directly from the nhlpa. I'd say they're 100% trustworthy as well!!!

i have bought from meigray, NHL auctions, Manitoba moose team site, and off ebay from sellers with legit LOA/COA from respectable sites, like the 3 mentioned already by me

Anywhere OTHER than Ebay :)

Before Meigray came around, Milt Byron did (and still does) a lot of jersey authentifications (is that a word?) and sales. From what I gather, he was one of the first real "pioneers" in the jersey collecting hobby. Google his name...you'll find his website.

You know, if you dig around a bit, I'll bet you can find a super, reliable, trustworthy person in almost every city that has a team. They all seem to have a "middle man" who deals with the team directly, but is a collector also who makes a few extra bucks selling off some sticks, gloves, skates etc. Somebody who has it in with a trainer, or something along that line. On some of the other game used forums you see these people all around it seems.

Having said that...if a guy in Hawaii is selling an entire team worth of game used Montreal Canadians jerseys...I aint buying it :)

thanks for the comments folks

I have a quick follow up question: When dealing with some of these folks, is the price set in stone? Is it acceptable practice to offer a lower dollar amount?

Cheers,
Greg

Waterboy88.....The answer to your question is "NO"....nothing is ever set in stone....I have been collecting since 1989 and have purchased gamers from many different sources (Detroit Hockey Company...Meigray....Milt Byron....Etc) to name a few and as long as you are in the ball park with offers they will MOST of the time accept them (Example....I just picked up a 98/99 Road Set 1 Chelios BlackHawks jersey with a ton of wear and team LOA and Meigray Loa.....purchased it directly from Meigray as it was a consignment piece.....They had it marked at I believe $3000......I offered them $2400 and they took it.......same with Milt Byron....just picked up a Joey Kocur Wings jersey from him (His last one as a player) which was marked at $1750.....offered him $1500 and he took it............so they sometimes do negotiate.....especially in todays hard economic times.......best of luck to ya!

It's rare a price is set in stone, unless someone puts FIRM in the price. Even then I've been able to save a bit of cash.
