Upstanding Member,
Interesting subject I'd like to bring up.
Remember back in the older days of memorabilia cards...like older Leaf/Donruss baseball and football cards...when they would actually show you a photo on the back of the actual jersey that the swatch from the front was taken from? I always thought that was so cool that you could actually match the swatch with the jersey.
Example here (not my card):

They don't do this anymore. A lot of times you don't know, especially in the case of hockey cards, if the swatch piece is a jersey, glove, pad, blocker, etc. What I liked about BAP/ITG and now President's Choice, Dr. Price actually tells you what the piece is from. Once Leaf took over, that changed and now you don't know what it is, it's just game used memorabilia. ???
Sometimes though, you can do a photo match from the information on the back and match to the swatch on front. Case in point...I have these 2017-18 SPGU Supreme Patch cards of Connor McDavid that say on the back that "You have received a trading card with Connor McDavid event-used hockey memorabilia certified to us as having been used in the 2017 NHL All-Star Skills Competition." And the photo on the card's front shows McDavid competing in that Skills Competition, as you can see the Skills patch on his right shoulder. And because the patch cards I have are unique to the right chest patch of his jersey (The 2016-2017 Oilers Inaugural Season patch in their new arena), I can say that the patch piece is photo matched to the actual jersey. Most of the time now, the photo is older (and sometimes even from their other team). But this one I can say that this came from that jersey in the photo. Am I right?

I do have a couple others that are similar photo matched (All-Star Game Skills certified jersey patches with photos from the Skills competition):

I also have a couple with specific All-Star Games with their photos of that game, so basically photo patched. But not as specific as the McDavid (which shows the specific patch).
Part of Lafleur's chest NHL Shield from the 1978 All-Star Game.

Part of Yzerman's shoulder patch from the 1984 All-Star Game photo...but you cannot see that actual patch in the photo).

You know the photo is from Lidstrom's 2011 All-Star Game in Raleigh, but the photo does not show the All-Star patch, which is on his left shoulder.

This one of Joe Thornton is definitely a patch from his 2004 All-Star Game jersey in the photo. But is it part of the visible sleeve number "9" showing...or the "9" from his left shoulder which isn't visible? Not as specific again, as the McDavid.

Then there is this one. You know the patch is from the one game 2018 Stadium Series game in Annapolis, but the photo is totally wrong...so no photo match.

Does anyone else have a card or two that have photo matches on the card you can identify like this?
Wishing everyone a........
