I have a very nice OPC Messier RC and may have the opportunity to meet him in a couple of months. I'm seriously considering getting him to autograph it for me. Would you guys do it?

personally I wouldn't. what i would do, and have seen other people do is to put the card in a one touch holder or get it slabbed, and then affix a white avery label to it and have them sign that. I remember one person who had a grant fuhr card slabbed, and he did the above with his card, looked really nice. Whatever you do, enjoy the card, and enjoy meeting Moose.

I have never heard of that idea. Sounds pretty cool. But I personally wouldnt get the RC signed. It does decrease the value. I would get him to sign some nice base cards. If its for your pc and you dont intend on getting rid of it then go for it. What ever option you choose enjoy it!

It would lower the value......just because no way to prove it. But, if it is going to be forever PC, I say go for it. Or, save that one and get something else signed.

Here is the Fuhr. Good luck, I say go for it. I don't recall seeing any autoed Moose rookies.

I second what most have said here - don't get the rookie auto'd. But definitely get him to sign some base or other types of cards. The other idea posted above is also a good one.

It depends on what you plan to do with it. If its to sell down the road dont do it. But I have a Hextall RC I got signed and its one of the few cards I can tell you I will own when I die. It may make the card worth less to some people but getting anything else signed wouldnt mean as much to me.

I would also have to side with the no as to signing the RC. Personally, I might create a custom card to have signed, it makes it all the more special.

Have fun meeting Messier

get him to sign a bag of lays... see if he can sign just once ;)

I have a few rc's signed, nothing as big as messier, but they are my favorite autos. If you plan to keep the card anyway, why not get it signed? If you plan to move it in the future though I'd find something else for him to sign.

I'd bring the card with you and ask Mark himself what he thinks....After all he is THE CAPTAIN!!!!....Whatever he says goes!!!

Go for it! I have Grant Fuhrs rookie signed as well as many others - if it is your intention to keep it, and you aren't worried about the bv of then do it!

I personally have quite a few rookies signed, they will never leave my collection and i'm glad I had them signed. If you have the extra cash get a jersey signed or even a stick.

disagree fully with having it signed. Once a card is signed, there's next to no difference between it and another - it becomes another pretty picture.

an RC of Mess's, especially in good condition though, is pretty hard to come by.

just pick up the 92-93 OPC reprint RC and get that graphed.

If you are keeping it then I say get it signed. Collecting is all about what you want not what others tell you that you want. If I had a chance to meet Messier then I would have no problem letting him sign my RC. As an old school collector there would be nothing cooler then meeting one of my hockey childhood heroes and having them sign my card. What a great keep sake it would be.

There is way to much emphasis placed on BV and resell value. I really miss the way collecting use to be.
